It was his and Ren's interaction that sold the movie for me. Actually I really liked the movie, I thought everything was pretty solid. Definitely better than the prequels (1,2,3) though in my opinion.

A lot of people didn't really like the prequels for a lot of different reasons. I thought they weren't so bad. The last movie of course left me speechless. Just like when Han Solo was killed off in Episode 7.

I actually started out with Clone Wars and I loved it for a long time before actually watching the original trilogy. Oh yeah that was a shocker but I felt that it really makes Kylo an extremely conflicted villain at that point.
