Description Journey 2 The Mysterious Island characters and plot belong to Warner Bros. Pictures, New Line Cinema, and Walden Media.

AU plot belongs to me.

Remember in Journey 2 when Sean and Hank used the electricity from the giant eel to kick-start the Nautilus? And remember how Sean was hobbling around on an injured ankle? What if, in the process of walking around the cabin, he tripped and caught the cable that was connected to the harpoon around his leg? What if that happened right as the electricity surged through to the engine?

Basically how the story goes, Sean is - as expected - initially killed by the 1000s of watts of electricity, but Hank is able to bring him back as they escape. Several weeks later, after getting out of the hospital thanks to his ankle and severe burns, Sean discovers that his able to control things powered by electricity, and not only that, but generate his own electricity. Obviously, he freaks, and Hank runs up to his room and finds out. After managing to get it under control, they go searching for answers. After Sean's grandfather does a blood test, he learns that Sean has a strange substance - if anything, a new element - in his DNA, put there by a chemical Sean spilled on himself in the Nautilus after falling and breaking a strange beaker filled with liquid. The element, which Alexander names Moribum, apparently reacted with the electricity that Sean's body was hit with, giving Sean the ability to both create and control electricity. Sean wants it gone, but since it has become incorporated into his very DNA, there is nothing they could do that would not kill him.

Over time, Sean learns to accept his powers, trains himself how to use them to their full extent, and begins to use them to help and protect people, under the mantle of "Current."

So, yeah, I have a habit of taking just about every character I discover in movies, TV, and books and giving them an AU where they get superpowers. I don't even know where I really got this idea from, but I honestly would have liked to see this in the movie. I feel like it would have been a dramatic and exciting ending. But yes, I made his superhero name "Current" because he can generate electric currents and all.

This picture is of when he first discovered his new electrokinesis powers, and you can time his freakout in 3,2,1....
