inspired by "I'm Alive" by Disturbeddrawn while under the influence of more-than-healthy doses of Disturbed and Skillet.
[and while watching Balto. xD]
I've had this half-done for more than a month...I even brought it to the dA meetup at Anime Iowa to get some critiques/advice--and surprisingly did get some great feedback after the panel--and finally, today, I decided to just put charcoal to paper and get it DONE.
In hindsight, I see many areas that I could've done better...but I'm happy with the overall image.
The blood was a last-second idea... I remembered ~CaptTreasureTroveTi telling me how she made fake blood for some vampire-themed binders, and decided to give it a try...
"a try" meaning a massive scramble to find just WHERE those darn acrylic paints went, and running around the house muttering to myself \"water..needwater..MIXINGTABLET!!brushes..WHEREAREMYBRUSHES?!?!\"
....my brother seemed to be of the impression that the blood makes this look vaguely 300-ish.
I think I still should've snuck a blood smiley in there somewhere. xD

In all honesty, I wasn't planning any color scheme...it's just that charcoal is naturally B&W..

Hehe, well I'm kind of a fan of using bolt splashes of color in the middle of a mostly colorless image, so it stuck out to me.

It's a technique I don't use often...but, you know, I really do like the effect, too. :] I'll keep it in mind for future projects. XD

It's okay..I know that feeling. the "FAV!FAV!FAV!.....NOW what do I say? O.o" thing. xD
detail--> meh? I thought it was one of my less detailed drawings.. >_> but mayhaps I'm biased against my own work?
stance--> THE REFERENCE IMAGE. I owe it all to that guy.
blood--> I probably DID look like CJS, running around trying to find my paints. xDD Thank'ee for the recipe/inspiration for the fake blood!

This is an excellent piece of work. Very nice detail and proportions. The blood was a great idea too. Adds a good touch of startling color. I think your bros right, it does remind of '300', but that's not a bad thng.
