Description John Powell - Wonderbot Wash
-----------------------

me and my original titles

Created back in 1956 by Yuri Druzhkov, a soviet/russian children's writer, and Ivan Semenov, a famous soviet/russian illustrator, Pencil and Screwbolt (english adaptated names) had become some of the most iconic characters in soviet children media, starring, most importantly, in a popular soviet childrens' magazine called "The funny pictures" (the first official russian comic strip, founded by Semenov himself), alongside other minor characters from various fairytales and novels. In addition, Druzhkov wrote a children's book based on both Screwbolt and Pencil, explaining their origins, backstories and first adventures together, in 1964 originally called "Adventures of Pencil and Screwbolt" (english adaptation translated by Fainna Glagoleva exists, I'll find the link later), later getting the first sequel in 1984 and many more, written however by Druzhkov's son, the writer Valentin Postnikov. Ever since Pencil and Screwbolt were featured in few classic animated shorts and still continue to be "The funny pictures"'s permament mascots to this day. I find it rather fascinating how some of the oldest known kinda-public-domain characters still get enough attention and recognition in my country's culture and how they keep up on being just the way they were in the 60s - entertaining and properly didactic at the same time. It's a shame we russians never got any modern tv show or animated feature based on them, because these characters not only played their part in shaping my childhood, but as I think should be reintroduced to the new generation of children, who didn't quite have the same experience as I did. Maybe I should be the pioneer and offer someone my idea of an animated film about Pencil and Screwbolt? It would be a dream come true truly.
Here's my take on the characters, inspired by 'canonical' Semenov's designs from the Druzhkov's book but with my added details and changes and stuff. Obviously, Pencil is the right one, Screwbolt is left. Just wanted to share some small part of my country's past media with you. Hope you like them as much as I do :]
You can now find revamped 'reference sheets' of these two here and here .

Good to see these two again.
And man, I like Robots! A lot!
Not many people really talk about that movie.

Been a while heh? :]
That movie I remember watching most in my childhood, hehe, it was pretty entartaining and cute, though not the best one around. But man they didn't mistake when hiring John Powell as the composer, he's a musical genius! The ost was very memorable in Robots.
