! You are SO amazing with associations!
There are so many natural elements you combined that represent ideas and common perceptions about memories... You just always seem to hit the nail on the head. And then there are so many layers in this piece, and patterns, it's utterly stunning.
I scarcely know where to start...
The expression on the face is beautiful... slightly pleasantly surprised and a bit expectant... also somewhat jaded, the tiniest bit. The surprise and expectancy just looks a tad "oh really?" to me... it's perfect.
And then the varied textures in the images, with the smooth salamander (? newt? salamander? other? XD) next to the sharp roots that show the texture of the paper and colored pencils. And then the cotton and webs are so fibery. So much variety and so beautifully communicated!
And as far as memory representations... The swelling and crashing of the water, how it all gets built up and bursts uncontrollably from the narrow tubing, is definitely one kind of memory recall. The roots are another, deep and underground, and the cotton is reminiscent of nostalgic memories or difficult to remember things. The spiderwebs are kind of the same thing, cloudy and snatched memories, but also complexity and sturdiness. And then the little wisps at the top of the head, the first thing coming out, they remind me of the preconscious mind or the recent past or present being spun into memories.
Then the placement of everything... the choices about where to cut, and the holes repeated on the side of the head, it helps sculpt the flow of the picture, and also shows missing memories, and gaps in memory. The location of each symbol reminds me of the localization of processes in the brain...
This is full of so much whimsical fabulousness and at the same time truth and depth.
Utterly gorgeous, thank you so much for sharing!
Commenting on your art is like therapy for me XD!

Thank you once again dear ;3
Yes, memories sometimes can be very overwhelming. When your walking and have a moment of deja-vu that makes you pause and ponder why the scenery is familiar. When you come across a faint smell that makes you remember a moment in childhood. Even when you see a face or object that is uniquely familiar. All of that is what makes memories so wonderful, curious, and disruptive.
At least for me memories are very constant because i'm still living in my hometown....makes me wonder, when i move away will memories follow? that makes me sound despondent, haha

I love how you made them tattered. Memories really are fragmented!

Oh yes, yes they are. Or sometimes they're artificial memories that you get from your parents or photos.
Mom: "Remember when you were a baby?...."
Me: "Nope." X)

this is so lovely! i love the salamander and the texture of the water. it really looks like rumbling waves, which must be pretty hard to pull off on paper. I also lik the cut-out bits; i would think it looked nice as a sheet of paper, but this really makes it pop.
