OHYES well i do have it on my wikipage and what not but god only knows its probably terribly outdated since you know i change it constantly and what not- :TTT

BUTYES- the connection goes back to the whole lab sydney thing. Not sure if you know much about that but i vague remember you kind of getting the gist of that so ill go from there. Nina takes Ripper from Volker for the reason that she needs someone to work on her father's life work of sorts- now theres a whole bunch of other shit that works up to that like the RIKER STUFF and then her father's foundation of the lab and YADDA YADDA i wont get into that LOLL- when he is at the lab those first few months Nina observes how incredibly intelligent Ripper is- so much so that she gets the idea in her head to introduce him to her fathers work and have him learn it inside and out. When he does he booms- his natural need to solve the puzzle kicking in as he just fills out entire equations on massive boards trying to figure out what exactly he was trying to solve. Nina knows of course, that her father was working on something that has deep rooted itself in Mediatone history- the Silph chip- something that some mediatones have wasted entire life times trying to perfect and build, only to fail every time and die to pass it onto the next person crazy enough to try and tackle it. In a sense, what i can liken to it the best is the human pursuit to control life and death- someone like Dr.Frankenstein for example, in reality, could have spent an entire life time trying to achieve his goal at creating life only to die never achieving it- this is in a sense, what many of these scientists end up doing (not trying to tackle life and death, but more so, they develope an addiction like that for a certain technology and goal, ill explain what it is the silph chip does and is later) It's just so infectious that when they become obsessed with it, they cannot pull away- some going insane just trying to figure it out- while theres even stories of underground Maritime organizations hidden from the blind eye forcing Mediatones to build it. These of course are from paranoya- Maritime is a powerful force that is meant to keep the peace, many put their faiths behind it to always be just and good, so of course, there are stories that Peacetime is less then "good" under the surface (imagine like crazy old people swearing on their death bed that someday, Maritime will be the undoing of them all-that and conspiracy theists of course, you know, we always have those)

SO YA GETTING TO THE POINT- Nina's father was one of these Mediatones. He became obsessed with it and would work none stop at it- Riker being one of his test subjects who would escape only to return as a high ranking Maritime officer - no longer acting on the behalf of Maritime he and his group would threaten to expose him if he did not comply to Riker's wishes now- (because in Maritime it is illegal to work on projects like the silph chip) Riker himself becoming obsessed with the idea of achieving the chip so that he may bring those stories to life and take his place and use it to actually make those paranoid rumors come true, the man becoming obessessed with the idea of it someday dominating the world and becoming the one and only true, super power - with him of course, at the seat of it's great power. Years would go by as he would continue to return to check on it's status, Riker soon growing tired of waiting and fed up with the old man. He kills him and takes over the lab for himself- forcing his mediatones to continue work on it- him and his group occupying it as their base of sorts. Riker raises Nina- or at least, sort of does- only to force her to be with him (sexully of course cus he's a weirdo, ya kno)Her personality, bascially, comes from Riker- she adopts his ideals and practically worships him and his ideas, even if he killed her father. During that time it becomes her goal to find someone who can take her father's place- the woman failing to do so before Riker one day must mysteriously vanishes. This if course, tears Nina apart, since her entire life pretty much revolved around Riker ya know. From this point on she would build from what Riker had left and take his place- so sparing alot of details, this is how Lab sydney comes to form pretty much- and explains why Nina has Ripper snatched from Volker when she hears the news (this of course being that Volker has just elected the youngest Legionaire to date- a 20 year old Medivac, this of course being an emmense feat considering most Legionaires are MVs that have a life time of study and knowledge behind them are and typcially like, in their 60s LOL) So she has Volker raided- the woman happy as hell when she finds out that her men manage to actually snatch him for her- AND THUS BREEDS THE BEGINNING OF WHAT RUINS THE REST OF RIPPERS LIFE.

SO ASSUMING YOU KNOW SOME WHAT OF WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THAT- Nina forces him to work on the chip. NOW THE CHIP- what is it to put it rather bluntly is in a sense, Mind control. Like- thats about the simplest explanation i can give of it. What makes Ripper so important is, that after all the hundreds of Mediatones who have died trying to create the silph chips, Ripper actually Achieves it- using the left overs of her fathers work it just took him to finish. NOW THE FENS- FINALLY I CAN EXPLAIN WHY THE HELL THEY ARE IMPORTANT (cus you know i cant go with explaining one simple thing without going off on a ramble that builds up to it)

The fens play a big role in how Ripper achieves building the chips. Still having a conscious and all, he refuses to use rumian subjects to test them on- and coincidentally, when he perfects the Parent chip, he self implants it into his own head (kind of gruesome when you think about it) and then, rather then using rumian subjects, he turns to the closest thing that he has open access to. Since Lab sydney is placed in the Greater Border Forest in Maritime- and pretty much blunt wilderness- wild Wulf Hunds run wild in the forests and are easy to obtain in great numbers. So everynight for a great while he goes out and captures some- to have them brought back so that he can use them to test the "daugther" chips to sync up with the parent one he has installed in his own brain. It takes him quite a lot of failure before he actually gets anywhere with it- and some pain on his part considering a few times he has to adjust some things on his own chip before one day he finally manages to sway their actions slightly. Over time it builds as he realizes that it's not so much that technical shit he has to work on but more so his ability to use it needs practiced and perfected- (and of course, he gets pretty boss at it) When he does manage to get like, amazing at it- he makes more and more of them- until their are hundreds of them. Everything seems to be going fine for a while, Nina is hopeful and wants him to move onto Rumian subjects, however- unexpected side effects arise- not with the fens but more so, with Ripper. He can control the dogs in all aspects- however, what he did not expect was that with so many now running around, their natures would begin to leak over into his own. Be begins to act very odd, something that Nina does not pick up on right away but that Junder can see as plain as day. He becomes incredibly worried as Ripper becomes unlike himself in many ways- he no longer cares for the lives of others, he does as Nina commands for now- like a loyal dog might as even rumian subjects are possible to him now. However, he does not go forth with making any, even though he tells Nina he will. Nina only begins to notice when she realizes that even though he is completely obedient to her- that at the same time, he is defying her. It's only then she sees the changes in him, this only coming about when she begins to feel threatened by it. She sees now the power he has been gaining- the dogs were everywhere, he saw everything, and nothing anyone did went without him knowing about it it most cases. He could easily take her out of the picture- easily take her from the equation- Nina of course, no longer feeling safe and becoming incredibly paranoid. now ill skip the whole SHIT GOeS DOWN PART since i imagine that will turn this into a NOVEL OR SOMETHING- but ya- after ward when Ripper's personality is split by what happens during that time- his personality levels out and he is no longer so heavily influenced by the fens own natures. He is still, a little, but the split helps isolate it in a way, and makes him more "manageable" Nina continueing to use his power as her own power over the lab. She begins to plan out the future and what they will achieve with the technology, Ripper no longer wavering from it as Junder begins to realize just how bad things were going to get. Junder isnt exactly, the sharpest tool in the shed, but he could tell when something wasn't right- and began to realize just how dangerous the chip could be now that it was perfected and that Ripper was now all but obedient to her, his one personality so obsessed with her and the power that he would never leave- whilst the other so timid, torn and a wreck he could never work up the courage to put a stop to it.

SOOO long story short, Junder manages to talk weak timid Ripper into escaping by using the Tens river- he does then that whole shit where he goes to the border goes down and they strip him of his rights and wont allow him to return to the North, which is of course, his home. Thats when his whole MURDER SPREE THING OCCURS- and this is in part, because of his separation from the fens. his stronger side basically gets a bit batty, since he's the one more heavily influenced by the dogs and the one who has the better connection (and of course, he blames his other half for taking him from Nina and the dogs and is now rageful towards him) Unaware of what it's doing to him, he finds no joy in anything anymore and is miserble, so much so that he is even unable to do his job as a medivac any longer. He is unaware of however, that back at the Lab a large number of the dogs have escaped into the wilds- and them being man eaters and all (oh ya during that time before teh split that was another thing that warped his personality- since food is incredibly scare in the border forest and there were many times the lab would starve- he would allow them to eat rumians- which you can imagine, isn't such a good thing to allow your mind to be attached to) SOO they have no issues hunting travelers when being allowed to run about freely- when this begins to happen, Ripper's strong side is effected greatly by it and fills his own need to kill and what not- it at first scaring him until he realizes how greatly it soothes the way he is feeling and calms it, almost like a drug. THIS is what ultimately leads him to killing- but it doesn't get bad until Nina, being a bitch that she is, gathers a large amount of the dogs, and has them burned alive. This of course, makes him even crazier, the pain that every one of those dogs transferring to him even with being so far away. So ultimately, thats what makes the stronger Ripper so fucking crazy when he is in Mariott- like, back at the lab he wasn't that bad. He was a bit of a dick of course, but still had slight compassion and even love (obviously, since he loved Nina and was so devastated every time she would get pregnant and she would have the baby and have it secretly terminated- the woman pretending to miscarriage every time- Ripper eventually found out about it but kept quiet, :T)

SO LIKE HE SPENDS A FEW YEARS THERE AND HE FINDS SMITH WHILE HE IS THERE, THE WHOLE MASSIVE TRAIL THING GOES DOWN WHEN HE IS CAUGHT, THEY TAKE SMITH AWAY TO TRY AND PIN A SHIT TON OF OTHER MURDERS ON HIM THAT WASNT EVEN HIM AND THEN GEMMA (DESSUTS MOMMY) ATTENDS AND YA KNOW BEING THE COOL BITCH SHE IS SHE SEES POTENTIAL in RIPPER AND MAKES HIM DISAPEAR- OF COURSE MEANING, SHE TAKES HIM BACK TO THE MATRA WITH HER WERE HE WILL BE LEFT ALONE- THE WOMAN OF COURSE TURNING A BLIND EYE TO HIS MURDEROUS HABITS CUS WELL, SHES GEMMA. There he has no contact with fens and actually avoids them- when at the Matradom he just, avoids dogslike the PLAGUE for obvious reasons- but oh shit man this is getting so long IM SORRY ;c;;; FORGIVEMEE-

So in the actual plot- Nina achieves her goal obviously of becoming queen bitch of Maritime like her Precious Riker had Dreamed of. She finds Ripper, steals him back, The Klippers basically her new means of control over the states now as her conquest over them now begins- with Ripper back, she not only has her Klippers and the firepower of the entirety of Maritime behind her- but now she has Ripper again- and of course, he goes back to his addiction of making daughter fens, Nina allowing him too in an attempt to keep him as happy and on her side as possible. She needs him, considering, he burned all the research and paperwork when he was at the lab one day before the split so that he is basically the only living documentation of how to build the chips. So if he dies, it will pretty much be lost- Nina realizing that as long as she keeps him mildly happy, he will obey her- SOOOO YAAA HE ENDS UP MAKING LIKE THOUSANDS OF THEM- Ripper pretty much becoming the very life and soul of Maritime and Nina's grip over it (the Klippers of course being the secondary reason) Nina even finds him a little girl which he adopts- you might remember me drawing her a while ago her name was Ophelia, a little Red Rex girl. Whats funny is Ripper is like one of the main characters in my story but- through out the plot you don't see Ripper alot because of his deep rooted seat in Maritime- He controls many things- but no one is aware of this. In the Matra he simply goes missing, no one knows where he has gone- His presence known by those with in Maritime simply as that person who CONTROLS THE FENS and Nina's lover of sorts. Ophelia is the closest to him- as well as Nina of course- but for the most part- no one knows what he looks like or who he is- even though the dogs are seen everywhere and are pretty much stationed on every Klipper to keep an eye on things. So needless to say, this explains a bit as to why the Symbol of Maritime becomes that winded fen- even before Ripper, Fens were a symbol of Maritimes loyalty of the states- ironic to think that all those paranoid conspiracy theorys eventually come true and it takes over.

Ah, so he's LITERALLY connected to the fens with the chip, huh? That's awesome, especially the bit about their nature leaking over into his and being able to feel their pain, that's a great concept. . .And the association with dog-like creatures provides a nice symbol to represent his loyalty to Nina, definitely. ~RIPPER, DOG WHISPERER EXTRAORDINAIRE~

And I was wondering how Nina got her mitts on Ripper again after he escaped the lab since you mentioned a bit of that, nice. . .So, when Nina takes over the Maritime, Ripper's fens become a policing force, of sorts, eh?

But yes! I JUST LIKE TO PACK EVERYTHING WITH SYMBOLISM- But yes it's like, despite the fact that he protests against what she does- even the strong willed Ripper obeys her without question- (his nature though in turn making it better on his conscious at least) YA THOUGH I COULD GO ON FOREVER ABOUT RIPPER YOU KNOW THAT-

I remember that when ever i compare what Maritime becomes i always think of that book 1984 for some reason- the whole, Big brother concept, fascinated me- only it was a universal government that sought to govern everything under the guise that there was no higher or more just law- while in reality, they were just like any other state, using Peacelaw as a excuse to dictate and control- while they used the idea of pretty much issuing a watch that would be on them at all times (the Klippers eventually come to be stationed across the continent in major cities of each state, that is, all of them but the Matra Capital- where Maritime has yet to dominate. Even the North- though not in entirety of course-)

Ah hah, YEAH you can always lay a novel on me, I love story concepts just as much as I like art (if not more!)

AH, 1984, the besttt. I was actually gonna mention how the use of all those Fens as an intimidation factor reminded me a bit of the dogs in another George Orwell book, Animal Farm. . .But yes, that sort of omnipresent government that manipulates it's citizens, eh? Great stuff! Fucked up, over-powered governments are one of my favorite plot devices (ties in with the ol' obsession with dystopian fiction), hehhh~ <333
