Description - Amai Description, History, backstory Amai Kyouou

-1 Short, strapless Pale violet poofy mini dress that falls to mid thigh. Ruffley underskirt.
-1 thigh high black and white striped sock on her right leg.
-1 knee high black and white striped sock on her left leg.
-1 black garter with white ruffles on left thigh and one matching one on her right arm.
-2 black arm warmers that cover all of the forearms.
-1 grey/violet wide ribbon tied around midsection that covers from below the bust to the top of the hip bone. tied in the back into a large bow, the tails of the ribbon drag on the ground.
-1 thin black ribbon tied
Amai is my new baby <3 Her name means Sweet Treat and she is modelled very much after myself, or at least part of myself. I have another OC coming up and he is modelled after my Kitties <3 I cant wait to draw him!
Okay. I used no references on this picture except for the hands and feet and I used a tutorial on how to draw ruffles.
And the background images are from google xD

Well, this is my first time using this widget to give critique since I usually just give it in the comments since not everyone has a premium membership.
I will start by saying I love the colours you used for this character and that they blend in nicely.
Now for the harsher part of my critique. The overall picture looks nice, but there are a few anatomy mistakes.
What mostly bothers me are her arms. If you notice, when you stand up straight with your arms down, your shoulders down to the tips of your fingers go to your thighs. On the other hand, if you bring her arms down, they go to her knees. So in other words, she has monkey arms. one way to fix this is to make her torso and legs longer and maybe wider so she doesn't look too skinny.
Another thing that I mentioned before in your other drawings is that her legs don't have much shape to them. They are as straight as straws really. Remember this is a female and her legs are curvier and more defined than male legs.
I also really like her dress, but her dress kinda seems like a giant puff ball with no depth into it. Even poofy dresses have some folds and creases. I really think you should start adding more clothing folds in your drawings to add more depth and make them have a more realistic feel to them. The strings on her back also too volumized (I don't if this is the proper way to describe it and if that's even a word). Since they are long, they are probably heavy so they will be coming almost straight down her back and legs.
I hope this helps you a bit. I'm not sure if I did a good job though. Sorry if I sound too harsh OTL

And yes i know what you mean, This was the very first time i draw a whole person without using any reference what-so-ever so i was really nervous. And my anatomy is kinda shaky. I've always been scared of the shape of arms and legs. I've always been worried i'd get the shape wrong so i tried to tone it down... i was so nervous.
I also have a hard time with the length of limb cause I'm so used to making chibi's and they're limbs are so short. I'm just really confused when it comes to anatomy OTL
Also the tip with the arms, I really started to think about that after i drew this one so now i think my arm lengths are better c:
I also suck with fold/wrinkles in clothes so... yeah.
After i drew thins and was in the process of colouring her dress really started to bother me because, as you said it has no folds.
And i never really thought about the ribbons that way, but now that you mention it. You're right. The would fall almost straight down.

Learning how to do clothing folds in a process. It took me 3 years ago my clothing folds sucked and I didn't get serious about them until this year.
Ways to learn about clothing folds is maybe after you put on a shirt, look at where the creases generally are and use that knowledge in your drawings. After that you can practice to make them more detailed. I mainly learned about clothing folds by observing real-life clothing. Hehe, I think what mostly helped me was that whenever I would get bored in my religion class, I would always stare at my teacher's shirt just to see where the creases were in his clothing. I know it sounds very weird, but it helped. And like I said before, whenever you try a different outfit just look at yourself in the mirror and look at the little details and maybe move a bit and see how the creases would move depending on your pose. That's really my advice, I'm not sure if it will work for you like it did for me.
Well, other than that keep on practicing and don't give up!
