I still feel sloppy is all >.<
If my tips mean anything to you, I'd say the key to good pen work, is fine crosshatching / hatching
and getting your values right.
Honestly after I learned my value scale it took my art to the next level.

well, just try to makes your darks DARK and your lights light.
and get the shades in between.
