Description ...My glee OCs!

These two slightly acid-trippy people are Jennica Dean Hendrikson and Salem Thomas Tulgoy. (so just, uh, ignore that journal from a little while ago.)

The idea for a really eccentric girl came to me one day, not so much her personality, but the position she's in in this picture. I just saw it in my head, and it translated almost perfectly onto paper. (that came later...I was thinking about her all day.) I finally sat down to draw when the Thursday glee rerun came on that evening. As I drew, I kept going back and forth between my room and the TV, holding armfuls of things to use as models (Like the boots she's wearing, and the bag across her shoulder.)

Jennica, like the rest of the glee characters, is an almost-friendless outcast. She's a complete wacko, with the open-est of open minds. (She agrees with Sue, why can't you marry your dog?) The social structure and status quo of the current lifestyle bothers her, how if you don't conform to the accepted image, people apply the "If you ignore it. it'll go away" technique, and pretend her and her radical philosophies don't exist.
She is one of those crazy art nuts, who spends all day sequestered in the school art rooms, working on her latest project. (Just like half the people on dA, amirite?) Additionally, she is majoring in the film arts, because being an artist is an unrealistic dream (she accepts this), and has decided that either directing motion pictures (an equally unrealistic dream) or being a sound mixer/camera operator (Either is fine; a slightly more realistic dream,) would be an acceptable career. As a result, she is quite involved in the school's plays, concerts, productions, etc.
Jennica dresses how she wants, which is different from day to day, but has one major similarity; eccentrically. Convinced that today's music is an evil plot by the neo-Nazis to rot her brain, she refuses to listen to anything from the 21st century. (Actually, she just thinks it all sucks. But the theory is a good excuse that she uses to ward off potential threats to her awesome.) She could do well in school if she put more effort into it, but she's more interested in her Film History class than Trig.
Jennica and Salem have been best buds since Kindergarten, when he was the only one to approach the totally black-clad girl (minus her face, where her mother had drawn a small purple cat,) and ask if she was a ninja. (If she was, would she please levitate the Brontosaurus out of Ken's hands and back into his, where it really did belong?) (They had spent the better part of the Activity Time combining their ninja powers to remove the plastic dinosaur from ken's hands; it hadn't worked, but Jennica assured him that with practice they could succeed.)

Salem has been thoroughly cultured over the years to Jennica's ways. He clings to her coattails and rides the crazy, following her lead and providing backup when needed. He is subdued by nature, but Jennica's robustness urges him into shenanigans. (Part of this may be because there's a small chance he's been totally in love with her since seventh grade. Maybe.)
Salem is a band geek, who plays the tuba (coolest of instruments; just ask him) for the school marching band. He thinks it compliments his small stature. He's kind of really smart, and aspires to be an astrophysicist. What can he say? Exoplanets get him all hot and bothered. While Jennica's explaining her plan for escaping from the robot dolphins and sculpting a bear out of some scrap metal they picked up at the junkyard (It's a model of what they'll use to fight the robot dolphins, she says,) Salem might be curled up in the corner of her garage-workshop, reading 2001: A Space Odssey. (It's also quite possible that Jennica, for his thirteenth birthday, made him a mobile consisting of different starships over the ages. A few include Serenity, the USS Enterprise, the Heart of Gold, Red Dwarf and the special exception for a TARDIS. This may have been when Salem realized he was head-over-heels in like with his best friend.)

And these were the first drawings I did of them. Salem was mostly put there to take up the huge space next to Jennica. (I think she scooched across the page to make room for her space bffl.)

Also, 50th deviation ftw?
