Not to sound ignorant, but what's a beach wash?

There is no reason to know what a beach wash is - I learned how to do it from an art group when I lived near the beach a few years back. You take watercolor paper (I used 140 lb. half sheets) and dip it in the ocean getting sand and all. The sand makes a pattern on the paper. You take the paper with the sand to pour the paint (we used table cloths and the watercolor or acrylic paint was already thinned/mixed with water in jars). Lay the paper down and gently pour the paint onto the paper, it runs into the sand and is affected by the sand and the salt to make patterns/textures. When I am done I stack them, take them hope (wet, sandy, and painted) and lay them out in the driveway to dry. I later remove the sand and run them gently under water. Dry again and they are ready to use. I have a huge stack to use over the years. It's really quite fun to so.
