Well it's a simple technique honestly, 90% of the job is made with round brush at 100% opacity without transfert.
A bit of smudge too for nuances and a burn/desaturation at the end, done !

train yourself with 1h sessions, stay loose, prefer many thin lines to a soft gradient effect.
It will come fast, trust me

I've never tried the smudge-tool before, I will give it a try.
