Okay, as you can see from the first comment, I reallyreallyreallyreallyreallyreallyreally like this picture. Like, a lot. It was actually my user icon on my computer for a while. (You know, when it loads up and shows your user pic and asks for a password? That. Also my last computer let me make it password-free, because I don't want to spend an extra two seconds typing in shit when I'm the only one who uses my computer. My new computer forced me to use a password. My startup password is "boobs". I thought you should know this.) So I'm sorry if I'm a liiiiitle biased here. Or a lot biased.
I'm honestly curious as to how you did this. The "soft cel shading" style is one of my favorites. I'm going to guess the watercolor tool in SAI? I'd really love to see you do a tutorial or tell me your secrets or SOMETHING. What did you use as a pose reference?
This is seriously just perfect. And humbling. You got everything right -- the tones, the texture of his skin/clothing, the placement of the lights and darks, the anatomy -- everything is perfect. I also applaud you for not using neutral gray and actually using real colors for your black and gray tones. Just... Wow.
My only critiques are that the edges are a little rough where the foreground meets the transparent background, and I can't tell where his neck is. His belt also looks like it's too big to fit on his skinny little hips. But yes. This = all of my love.
