Suddenly he's all up in my face and all I can think is 'What is he doing??'. My voice echoes my thoughts. He just looks at me, at my lips then my eyes. I can feel myself burning red. Oh God, what is he doing.

"Well... I heard you like me."

He's never been this close to me before. I avoid his eyes as he pulls me closer to him with my scarf. Suddenly it feels highly restricting and I want to tear it off, set it on fire, pretend I don't exist and that this isn't happening, before the person who gave me it catches us.

"Wh-where did you hear that?" I barely get the words out, my heart in my mouth, my ears... Thump. Thump. Thump. Actually, I think my heart has taken over my entire body. I am just a massive heart, completely exposed to my crush. The thumps are getting louder and harder. I've never felt so sweaty and dry at the same time.

I swallow, trying to deter the thumps, and the lump of nerves in my throat. "The flowers?"

My face must be spelling my thoughts - how the hell did he know they were from me?? - because a little smirk dances on his pretty lips.

"Please, they had 'Ray' written all over them."

It depresses me how well he knows me. How can this boy read me so well? I clumsily try to move away from him but he pulls me back. His lips are RIGHT THERE, like two inches from mine. I can feel his steady breathing. I could so easily kiss him, and I know he wants me to kiss him, and I want to kiss him. But I don't. I don't do anything. There's a long pause and I shut my eyes, willing it to be over, the prickly heat of nerves settling in various places. I hear a tiny laugh and he lets go, and I feel the crushing disappointment, like I'm being rejected.

"You're an idiot."

He's walking away, and I do nothing. As usual.
