"Need a hand?”

You turn with a start as a short, stout man steps out from the shadows of the alleyway and into the pale glow of the streetlight, posture stooped, his hands buried deep in the pockets of his worn jacket.
“I didn’t mean to startle you, but I couldn’t help but notice you look a little lost.”
His pallid complexion stands out in the darkness and his eyes, ringed with dark pouches of sleeplessness, are an eerily-vibrant green. As you nervously look him over, he flashes you a large, but not quite friendly grin.

“Allow me to introduce myself, the name’s Kaz.” He pipes cheerfully, extending a pale, pump hand.

He doesn’t look very threatening, but there's something unpleasant in the way his green eyes flash hungrily. You take a step back. His smile falters as you reject the greeting.

“Oh, I really don’t mean to intrude or anything, but if you need help, I’d be happy to escort you to a safer place.” He says, looking concerned. “You know, you really shouldn’t be alone at this time of night, you never know what sort of…unsavory characters might be out.” He quickly glances over his shoulder and then turns back to you, this time giving a softer smile.

Your defenses lower a bit, but you are still wary. Still, he seems like a rather amiable fellow. And you could probably easily outrun him if things got bad, you note, eyeing his ample middle. You have to wonder about that stain on his shirt collar though.... Oh well, probably a spot of ketchup. Or something…

So yeah...my attempt at doing something "darker" I guess. Although I just can't resist putting a big ol' smile on him. Yeah, my writing sucks, lol. But I’m still rather satisfied with how this turned out.
