[Art Jam] Mahou Shoujo Mary Sue: Make it Work! An edgy new magical girl has joined the fray and is available for adopt!
Also, a quick clarification up here since people are asking: there is no deadline for signup and no deadline for completion, at least not in the foreseeable future.
(Eventually, when activity for this has tapered off I'll share the generator in case anyone wants to play the home game. But that's not for a long while yet!)
Who doesn't love an art jam?
And who here hasn't made their own terrible Mary Sue fancharacter?
Well, here's your chance to right your past design wrongs and
Make That Mary Sue Work!
The Mission:
Take a randomly assigned set of stereotypically Mary Sue design elements and make that design work! That's right, no being tacky for tackiness' sake, you've got to redeem
My rolls:

Appearance: 2+ Odangos + Gotta Have Bangs
Accessories: MASSIVE Sword + Wings
Other: We are all made of stars! (Incorporate a galaxy print.) + Elemental Palette: Water (Use only blues and greens)

I went through a bunch of different iterations of this design, trying to find more and more improbable clothes for this gal. I have a hard time doing that, I suppose.
I was originally going to go with a design that was something like Mew Mint (or well, inspired by that). Then her hairstyle morphed to something like Luna's human form (Sailormoon)... I decided I didn't like that so much.
Then I started to try to take this to a lolita design, which didn't turn out real well. ...Then kimono styled... ...Like, I saw stream of the Miku Live Party in Sapporo in... What was it, 2011 and Rin's outfit for Iroha Uta left me wondering how the hell that was hanging on her shoulders... (Dress tape!)
...Oh my. I think I'm rambling.
Anyway, as I got closer to finishing, I came up with this:
Again, I rolled back to the long hair, but backed off of that in the end.
...And so, we came to me taking what I liked from this, and making the finalized design.
...Whew, that was a lot.

Thanks! I really appreciate you introducing me to the challenge - it's a ton of fun~!
I went for another roll, and uh... The idea I have is a super-girly unicorn-bee magical girl. Oh man. XD

Love the palette and the sort of deconstructed wa loli look you went for. There is definitely some magical duct tape being used at the shoulders, how else to explain those massive sleeves with an off-the-shoulder dress? (Other than Rule of Cool of course.)
Thanks for taking part in the jam!
