Edit, 03-17-08: Seriously, guys. Why so many faves on this? It's a sketch. It's three years old. It's unoriginal, unremarkable, poorly executed (any of you phantom-favers bother to full-view to see all the woobly outlines?), and marred by sketchbook-edge marks on the outsides. It's not that great. I'm not ungrateful, honestly, but. I have better works. Other people have drawn far better Knuckles works. Fave something more deserving.---

Knuckles is sexy!
He was also kind enough to stand still a lot during this past Saturday's episode of Sonic X, so pausing and re-pausing the tape wasn't difficult.I'm quite proud of him! He looks damn good if I do say so myself. But then, it's Knuckles. He always looks good.
What? He's voiced by Dan Green; that, if nothing else, makes him sexy. Plus echidna are way cooler than hedgehogs.

I understand why you're sorta taken aback by all the favs, but I don't see the problem! Any one who can do an amazing sketch like this deserves all of them! I'm jealous! This totaly inspires me to add to my little sketch collection (which ironically is by the same name)

Hey! Nice pic of Knuckles you got there! Knuckles is the coolest Sonic character in the entire world, in my opinion. He'd break Sonic's arms and legs if only he could punch Sonic once! And for crying out loud, has anyone ever given consideration to the guy that plays Chris Thorndyke in Sonic X? He sounds pretty cool, too.

Suggestions!
Coloring books. These are good practice for coloring and shading.
How-to-Draw books of all kinds, on all subjects, in all styles. Experiment!
Sketch. My biggest mistake early on was getting attached to ALL of my artwork and wanting to finish and make a final product out of EVERYTHING I drew. This is a bad idea. Doodle! Sketch! If something doesn't look right, don't be afraid to start it over. More than once, if necessary.
Trace. This isn't for making final art out of; it's for practice, and gives you a good idea of where stuff goes and what things should look like.
Don't get stuck on details. If you can't get something right no matter how hard you try, get it the best you can and then post the sketch. Ask for suggestions! Sometimes people will see an easy fix that you couldn't see because you've been staring too long.
Take breaks. Sometimes things you think look okay look GODAWFUL after a night's rest; sometimes things you thought looked like crap you come back to and go, "Hey, this is actually pretty good; what was my problem?"
Don't be afraid to ask for help. Do not fear constructive criticism.
Don't be afraid to go back and forth between projects or give up on one project for a little while and move on. Then you can come back with VERY fresh eyes (and none of your GOD THIS IS TAKING FOREVER KILL IT mentality XD).
And most importanly, Do Not Stop Drawing.

As a matter of fact, i'm starting to do a few of those things. I realized that i DO spend too much time on the tiny details, and worst of all, if i see some (one) of my friends' art, i feel like i suck because she's more advanced in art then me, and that really isn't helping. Now i'm starting to just randomly sketch and leave all the lines (
