Small break from commission work to do some Borderlands 2 fanart because this game will be the death of me and I ship everything.But mostly Maya and Zer0. Somehow this got really dark though. Oops. I don't really imagine their relationship this dark. I think they would do pretty well. Maybe SLIGHTLY dysfunctional. The thing about Zer0 is that at times he can be really serious and almost scary with his uh.. volatile tendencies but then he says completely ridiculous things that make taking him seriously impossible. Not to mention those adorable emoticons that appear in front of his helmet. He's a weird, unpredictable dude. But I don't think he's completely devoid of emotion.
Anyway tl;dr I have no idea what their relationship would be like. Zer0 is a weirdo and Maya is adorable the end.
Also heavily ref'd Maya's pose but I can't for the life of me remember where the ref photo came from, whoops. If anyone recognizes this let me know.

Oooo, this is great on many levels. It's...errr...it's not that I ship them, but I most certainly like to imagine such a possibility. I like how you do not see all of him in the picture, because he is a thing of mystery and the less I see of him, the better (yeah, I had this mask/helmet fetish probably, Mordecai for me is always masked).
I also like how you described ZerO, I somehow failed to put mainly the same thoughts in words. So thank you

This is so great oh my god.
I started shipping these two when I noticed when my boyfriend would heal me in the game, a heart would show over his helmet (with me playing as Maya of course). IT'S SO ADORABLE.

This scene could really play out a possibility. Unfortunately, I haven't played too far into the game just yet. Though I have favored this couple ever since I used Maya to revive Zero. Unexpectedly, he had a heart emoticon show up and that was my closer.
However, back to the scene. It does have a dark factor to it, though that can play to your favor. He is quite a mysterious and obviously dangerous character. Maya alone can deal with some serious villains, but also still has that frail character side. Not attempting to be sexist, but females are usually delicate in comparison the males. Especially when you compare Maya to either Axton or Salvador. XD Thus, I can see this as a sinister strategic manner of none other than our own sarcastically cynical Handsome Jack. What better strategy to knock out two birds with one stone? Get the girl, hurt the girl, and knock her savior to the dust while defenses lowered. Gotta love the inspiration when you ship a favored couple.
Other than that, her hair falls right in place. And the dark shadowing really gives a feel for an ominous scenario. Also the detailing in Zero's outfit and posture are well on the dot. However, just a bit confused whether he's holding her protectively or about to seize an advantage. XD Either way, adore this piece, definitely a fav!

Haha, maybe! I don't think he's human either. At the least he is probably some weird human-alien hybrid or a humanoid kind of alien. Most if not all evidence points to at least some alien qualities (four fingers on each hand, doesn't need to breathe, etc), but he does obviously have a lot of humanoid characteristics. I might draw up a few concepts for what he might look like in my head.

I've heard a lot of people say the same. I never played the first game so I'm not entirely educated on Eridians but I'd say if so many people have come to the same conclusion it could be feasible. I read somewhere else that someone thought he could be some weird product of Hyperion. WHO KNOWS. I don't think they'll ever actually tell us, either. That's the point of his character. I am both happy with this and unhappy, lol!

Oh you should absolutely play the first one. If nothing more than to get the feel for the characters as we meet them in 2, because they do play rather important roles so their stories being told hits home. In fact a number of things like Fyrestone hit home - I was choked up there because it WAS where it all started.

Kinda like I came at Half Life 1 via HL2, I knew how it would go even though they're not remarkably connected story-telling-wise. BL1 and 2 are very well intertwined but you only know that in 2.

GOD, well, I know I'm gonna die a little inside whenever Mordecai interacts with Bloodwing. That scene in the second game killed me and I hadn't even gotten the chance to get used to the two of them from the first game. ;;

Well particularly if you rely on Bloodwing's abilities (it's the action skill for Mordecai and has a whole skill tree dedicated to using it), you get a lot of his lines showing that yes - that is a well trained bird and yes, he cares tremendously for it. However weirdly it's male in bl1, as far as the dialog I remember is concerned... odd. ah well.
They really did pull the feels on this one.
