5.Goten
There have been plenty of opportunities throughout Dragon Ball where Gohan has not only worked alongside his father but also surpassed him at certain points in time. As a result, it often feels like Goku’s other son, Goten, can get lost in the shuffle. It’s for this reason that he would be the perfect character for Gohan to take under his wing and try to impart some lasting wisdom on his younger brother. Goten already has such strength at a young age that he could likely match Gohan’s power without much difficulty.

4.Master Roshi
Master Roshi is a beloved fixture in the original Dragon Ball series. Even though he slowly recedes into the background, he still gets to play an important part in Dragon Ball Super’s Tournament of Power and briefly get to shine again.
Master Roshi is responsible for training characters like Goku and Krillin, and even though Gohan utilizes many of Roshi’s teachings like the Kamehameha, they’ve never formally trained together. There’s such history and familiarity between Master Roshi and Gohan’s family that this just feels like a pairing that would work

3.Shin
Dragon Ball started as a series about eccentric martial arts masters, but its scope has expanded to not just leave the Earth’s orbit but also reach unheard celestial plateaus. All of the Kai that have appeared are powerful, but Shin, the Supreme Kai for Universe 7 stands out. He stays firm with his beliefs while also carrying experience as a powerful fighter. Gohan gets to form a bond with Shin during his efforts to unlock the powers of the Z Sword, so it’d be nice to see them form a team and push this relationship further.

2.Krillin
Gohan and Krillin have fought together on plenty of occasions and they’ve faced some truly deadly villains, but it’s always been a part of a much larger group of fighters. Gohan and Krillin have never gone on missions that are just the two of them and there’s a lot of potential in both their comparable character dynamics and strength. This is another move that in many ways also feels like it could act as a tribute to Gohan’s father, so a team with Krillin also resonates in that capacity.

1.Future Trunks
Future Trunks is a very popular character that many people didn’t think would return, but Dragon Ball Super features the time-displaced warrior along with other memorable characters from Dragon Ball Z. What’s so interesting about the dynamic between Gohan and Future Trunks is that this Gohan is nothing like the battle-hungry fighter that comes from Future Trunks’ timeline. In this sense, it’d be fascinating to see them fight together and perhaps Future Trunks could rub off on Gohan a little and boost his fighting spirit.
