Sigh. I guess we have mortal kombat 3's "Sheeva" to thank for everyone thinking Shiva is female. Read some of the Destroyer dagnammit! All you've got to do is change the name to Kali and then it's good to go.

Good pic but to make it clear..
This is the "shiva" from final fantasy.A summonable character.
Shiva can be pronounced as shee va here .She is not the Hindu God.
The hindu god "lord Shiva" is actually pronounced as Shiv or Shib or in respect Shivji. Some areas pronounce as Shiw.
Now the name could mean Lady Parvati ,the wife of Lord Shiv.But she looks nothing like that in all usual pictures.
Besides that according to Hindu mythology he is too strong.In the game the character is not that powerful.Mythology states...Lord Shiv opened his third eye...and poof! The poor enemy is burnt to oblivion.
But the name shiv is used in Hindus very much like shivlal shibu shibdas shivnath shivani etc.
Therefore my take on this is that
THE GAME CHARACTER SHIVA IS A SPIRIT.SHE IS NAMED SHIVA (SHEE VA).MAYBE SHE IS HINDU...OR OF HINDU ORIGIN.NOT A GODDESS.
That way she remains attractive without hurting our religion.
Oh well..Lord shiva also dances.He is lord of that too.
Just his dance brings the apocalypse...nothing serious...but we all including other gods (lower) die.
