LIKE RAIN

And as I'm burning up;
And as my heart is set on fire,
even though it hurts, I bear it.
I bear it because I've never felt this before.

But, through and through,
heartburn after heartburn,
the pain grows;
the pain numbs.

It spreads into my hand
Scalding my very skin-
blistering tears and regrets unfold.
The scar still taints my skin,
still reminds me of everything.

I'm numb all over-
blocking out all feelings;
void of all emotions.

Until it rains;
play the blame game with luck.
How dreadful
How depressing
How disgraceful
How degrading

I shield myself from the downpour
shivering from the cold
shivering from the humiliation...
SHUT UP! SHUT UP!
drenched with whispering voices;
taunting and tongues.

I push my way,
push my way through the tormenting battle of cold showers-
let the bullets tear my wounds,
let them dissolve my numbness,
my very being.

Throat hoarse and face towards the skies,
my inner demons unleash.
Let PRIDE and VANITY have the better of me
as they celebrate the burial of INNOCENCE.
Lashing out each whip of thunder,
PRIDE and VANI---

I fear for the worst; losing it all.
It burns.
It sizzles.
And it hurts like hell all over again.
It trickles down my arm- a droplet of compassion.
Something fills my bloodstream.
As i look to the sky - I saw the bigger picture.

Like rain, you soothed my wounds.
Like rain, you soothed my soul.
Like rain, my numbness gone
Like rain, my hurts- washed away.
