I think that anyone who has looked or asked about a mobile app for deviantART has received the same, disappointing answer...NO... Apparently deviantART feels that they don't need to go beyond having a very limited, ad filled mobile site. Well, I and many others would like to see an app for both Android and iPhone. To me it only makes sense.Here is just a quick mockup of a couple screens in an UI concept I put together for a deviantART Android app. Again, this is just a UI concept and the app does not exist. I have a few more screens that I have made for this that aren't shown, but honestly, given that deviantART has flat out said NO, I won't be making it a priority. Maybe sometime I will post the full app set for most of the screens if there is a high enough interest in it or if deviantART asks me to.
Not gonna hold my breath on that last bit.

I have updated this to show more screens of the UI concept. I know that not all features that one my want are shown, but I have illustrated the most prominent ones.

It's an old concept...but yeah....would be nice huh. Β More and more people are doing "artistic" stuff on their mobile devices. Β Why not make it easy to upload and manage content here? Β I've pretty much moved onto other such sites that are keeping up with technology.

There is already an app for da in google play but it's just for searching art, what you put here it's just what the app it's missing, i wish i know how to make apps...

Nope... There isn't an API from dA to do this. They refuse to take the leap into the 21st century and make one.

Thanks! I've thought about updating it to take into account the new Android UI standards...but I kinda wanna wait until someone shows interest in the concept and maybe wants to help bring it to life since dA has no interest in making one of their own. You'd think with what they charge for their merchandise, they could afford to have a dev build one.

Well... I'm not sure an API is really needed. There are some devs working on an iOS version around here somewhere. Looks like some creative devs have figured out a way around not having an API to use. No clue how thought.
But, hey, if you are interested in teaming up on any apps, just let me know. I have a lot of concepts ready to go, but I don't have the programming skills to build them.

I love the idea haveing dA on my Galaxy S! It's nothing to publish art, but ist a great way to show art to people. I realy hope dA will change their mind.

university and i have so much time without touch my illustrator...but i still lovin' good illustrations and the your is really awesome

Since getting my android, I'll admit I've gotten lazy with checking messages, and have missed out on some really awesome contests. Would love this to happen, it seems more useful than a Facebook connection.

This, is a fantastic idea. I think dA are really missing a point getting a good app in the marketplace for the site. Would open up a new base of potential users too.
From my point of view, I'd love to have this. Especially because I have a large screen Android phone.
Your design idea is wonderfully simple and clean too. Really good use of the screen space and easy on the eye too.

This would have to be one app on the top of my wishlist. Wish dA would create something. Even with ads on it, it'd still be better than the lame mobile website we're used to.

they keep saying they won't. i think they should do an ad supported version and a pro version. then maybe they could cut back on the ads for their over priced crap that is all over the place here. thank goodness for adblock.

Thanks! I don't know why they are so against making a mobile app. Something like this would totally work and it still gives the same look and feel that we're used to...without the ads...lol... I'm sure that if they made an app it too would be full of ads. Just glad they invented adblock...lol... If they did make an app, hopefully they'd be smart enough to know that ads in apps is a terrible idea and makes little money. If they are smart about it they would make a standard, ad supported version and then sell a pro version without ads and with added features, etc.
Oh well...I see it as their loss if they don't do anything.

Hi, i found a version, but unfortunately i couldn't dowload the full version of DA [link] from android market to my mobile. I tried it in different ways but i always get the same error.
I wrote the author, no reply yet.

don't install that app...seriously. that dev is a Market spammer. he and a few others have mass uploaded apps like those. all they are are bookmarks. You open the app and it takes you to a website. don't waste your time.

yeah...but my design is there if dA decides they want to buy it from me and use it. I'm sure they can afford to compensate me for the time I spent on it and for the rights to the design... after all, they do charge $90 for a backpack.
