Well, granted it is just my opinion here, but if you think about it then Nick in this AU probably would be considered a pariah.Β
That doesn't mean that he wanted that kind of life or that he's even a bad mammal, it's just the hand he was dealt and now has to made do with.

Β Β Β In the final decade of the 20st Century animals, male and female, in rocket ships landed on their moon. By 2080 AD, they had reached the other planets of their solar system. Almost at once there followed the discovery of hyperdrive through which the speed of light was first obtained and later greatly surpassed. And so, at last, Zootopias began the conquest and colonization of deep space.

Β Β United Planets Cruiser C57D, now more than a year out from Zootopia Base was on a special mission to the planetary system of the great main-sequence star Sol. This expedition was led by Captain Judith Laverne Hopps and First officer Nicholas Piberius Wilde. In that system was Earth which once held an advanced technologically sophisticatedΒ civilization. Their mission was to explore this world and find out why its civilization ended. This is their story.

Could turn out to be a 'badass' story...the drifter, Nick Wilde, enters Bunnyburrow where he meets the farmer's daughter, Judy Hopps, along with a town filled with bigoted prey animals not willing to give a fox a break, especially an ex-con fox. The farmer's daughter, on the other hand, sees Nick as he truly is, another mammal just looking to get by to see another sunrise.
