You said hippie and I had to hunt her down. Haha yes they could meditate together and color flowers on VW bugs.

OMG! o_O You don't know how much I love this picture! She's such a pretty character and the facial expression makes it all the more beautiful, serene and warm. The way her hair is in the wind makes the mood all the more graceful. The background compliments it very very well and it definetely allows Echo to be at the forefront of the focus. I'm all full of compliments with this picture. The only thing that I really see that could have made it any better is that her neck thins out too much towards her shoulders. It's a little awkward but you make up for it with the rest and I hardly notice it when looking at the overall piece. *giggles* I wants to print it! Squee!

I was reading through the above comments and just had to add my opinion in on the matter of shading. I don't go crazy over shading. Light shading here and there to show changes in the depth of the body or in the ripples of hair or clothing is fine for me. I believe the simplicity can give a piece just what it needs without going overboard. (Though some pieces do look better with the detail, I wish to add.) I'm not too sure, this is just my thoughts of the matter, but I think that shading might have taken away from the light, airy mood that the picture displays. The simplistic shading and the light values give me the impression of a lit, cheery enviroment that matches the expression of her face. If you would have went any darker, it might have taken away from the brightness Echo implies. You may think differently, I'm just offering another point of view.

she is cute!!!! is she some sort of smooth coat colly!!!

as for a critique..... I think you should push the shading. Dont worry about loosing the colors and markings. The human eye will read the fur color as lt. grey even if you push the shadows to black or a midnight. I love her ears, they have a cool shape,... but since the emphasis is on her head you should define the features more,.... ex. make the ears look deep, darker near the bottom inside.

I love your dogs!!! you should draw a bull terrier some time
or if you are ever taking request..... my avitar is a dog!!! I just love your style so much

Hmm...I hadn't realized that the shading was not dark enough. I was trying to get a "light feeling" as moonie suggested, but I agree with you, could have used a tad more.

Mmmm...well, I don't take requests, but...bet I could take a shot at a bull terrier for once for ya. They are actually one of my fav breeds, I just never thought of drawing one before:3. And your avatar is a dog? Heeehee, I thought it was an onion.

I have never actually drawn myself as an onion,.... someone drew one for me and ever since. *shrug* what can I say.

Bullys are cool,... and after that I like mutz, Borzoi's and Shar-pei's. Only cause that is what I own. And pugs are cool... my sis has like 10 of them.

let me know if you ever want anything

Oh, cuteness! I love how her hair curls at the end, and the poncho is so cute~ The black coming from the corner of the eye and around the bottom looks super cool. What did you use for this? Watercolour and pencils? Just curious. ;

Yeps, I actually used watercolors, and then cheated by using colored pencils for the hair details.

This is so pretty. The face reminds me of the style of a friend of mine. I'm especially attached to the flowy hair.
