One of the main characters from an awful cartoon, The Dreamstone. Why is it awful? Because the show is literally not about the actual main characters at all! It's more concern with the hijinks of the main villain's henchmen! It's a shame too because I really like the designs on the main characters, especially on Amberly. I don't think this show looks that bad. But, I've never seen it, so, I wouldn't know.Β

Donβt get me wrong, the show looks very cool with a fantasy setting and with designs of the different species in it. I especially like the main villain, Zordrak. But biggest problem it has that itβs too focused on the Zordrakβs minions, who are just there for comedic relief. I swear, most of the show is just about them and you hardly ever see the main characters!

I did see some of it, and you are actually right. I mean, it could be worse, but, I lile the design of this character. Isn't the point of a show or a movie to focus on the main character or an ensemble of main characters? Maybe this show was just about the villains. Who knows?
I did see that "Rudi And Trudi" show you spotlighted in a previous Obscure Cuties section, and I agree that Trudi is cute. Probaby my favorite out of all of the "cuties" you've revealed.

I heard about and tried to, not much videos on it. Besides, it looks it has the same problem with The Dreamstone. Too much focus on the antics of the bad guys and not enough on the main characters.

It is one of the show's serious downsides (though I do like the Urpneys, really three dimensional villains and loads of laughs). Looking at the creative team's other stuff like Bimble's Bucket, you could tell they didn't have much of a passion for hero characters.
I think in the pilot and the closing points of the series, they shown glimpses of giving the main two heroes some fun roles though.

But in any good show, you focus on the main characters and not the background characters.

I didn't mind the bad guys getting sympathetic limelight, it's just that they didn't try at all for the heroes a lot of the time. Even when they DID focus on them they were often kinda boring.
Add to that, as fun as the Urpneys were, they weren't connected to a lot of the show's key mythos. All the magic and surreal imagery, even just basic stuff like making the good guys look provoked, it all went to waste ONLY making use of them.
