Description She strode through the ferns, tall legs carrying her with a powerful grace unmatched.  Her scarred jaws swung back and forth, nostrils scenting the air.  Ferns of every shape and age waved before her in a rolling field.  Finally she caught the scent of familiarity.  Stalking over she uttered a deep grunt in her throat.  It was answered by a yelp!  Pushing her thick jaws into the ferns she uncovered her cub, concealed from other predators by the towering plants.  His yelps grew more urgent as he flopped on his shaky legs and stared up at her.

That scarred face had been the last thing many herbivores saw as they died screaming.  But to the tiny male it was the loveliest visage in the known world.  It was there when he  first broke free from his shell and it was always there to offer him food, nuzzle and clean him and scare off the scavengers and smaller therapods that he caught glimpses of from his nest.  The field of ferns wasn't ideal nesting but it had been a hard summer.  She had only born a single egg and was now determined to feed and care for her lone cub.  The hunting had been luckless today but after a light nap she would march off at dusk and see about ambushing a nesting dinosaur for a late dinner.  Her cub would have to be patient for his dinner.

But right now she lowered her face to a frenzy of happy yelps muzzle bumps, savoring the delight her son displayed upon her return.

===================================

I wanted to take another run at a dinosaur picture for my nephew.  Similar theme but with a very different mindset!  I honestly didn;t want to coat my Tyrannosaurus in feathers so I compromised and gave her scutes.  I liked the idea that no matter how terrifying or scary someone is, their kids and family will love them regardless.

What a lovely scene. To think that such giant killer machines would make for such great family pictures.

I don't mean to be rude but there are several anatomical errors with your T.rex: The arms seems too big, and the hands are pointing inwards like
a rabbit on its hind legs when they should really be facing each other like they were going to clap. It's back should be more of a straight line while
yours seems to be a little more kangaroo-stance (although if you were trying to portray her as rearing up to get a better look at her kid I can see
why she would stand like that). Also her legs seems more fat than powerful... It's a thunder-thigh 'saur!

I hope you don't get mad at me for that. It's just the dino-nerd in me breaking free of the chains put on it by my cynical, adult side. I like your style,
you give your dinosaurs such personalities.

Also, when talking about feathers: I read that they'd found fossils of T.rex skin imprints, free of feathers. Obviously it wasn't of the whole body, they
still might had feathers but it showed that T.rex at least wasn't fully covered in them.

Thanks for the nice words but *Sigh*  Y'know I never honestly tried for more realistic life drawings.  Animals, people landscapes, flowers etc.  Could never get behind realism.  I tried it through high school all the way through college and decided I just hated drawing realism.  Don't get me wrong people who can pull it off are amazing.  But I don't think I can ever truly get behind it.  And for all the folks who keep going on about the dinosaur representations I just think of a quote from the series "Over the Garden Wall."  Where a little boy says Dinosaurs all had big floppy ears but no one knows that because those didn't fossilize.  No matter how much evidence we compile, it's all still speculation.

Hey, whatever style works for you, go for it.

It's not that I disagree with that statement but I have to say that there's difference between speculation and 'speculation'. There's the speculation of experts,
and there's the 'speculation' of people who just fills in the gaps with whatever fairytale they think is cool enough. And that can be dangerous because reality
is that not everybody's opinion is equal. You don't have a debate about healthcare between an actual doctor and some guy who tried to remove his own appendix.
That's how we get deniers of global warming, people start thinking they know better than the actual experts. I'm not saying that I would be any kind of 'expert'
on any subject (I've probably done the same mistake I just ranted against) but I try to listen to people smarter than me.
