In 1966, two spheres sped through the void of space, a blue one that held the invader Baltan, and a red one that was the hero Ultraman. Baltan headed for Earth and hoped to loose his pursuer, but Ultraman kept on the chase, Baltan flew over a lake in the Japanese countryside and sensed the presence of a large and powerful creature underwater.
Firing a beam of energy into the lake, roused the huge dinosaur Bemular to surface and rage at the little village nearby, Ultraman broke off his chase with his enemy in order to defend the human population. Bemular proved a powerful foe, but was no match for the hero from the stars.
