As Tokyo began to rebuild after the 1995 incident, it was decided with the onset of new kaiju that a plan be installed to create a weapon that could defend the city if not the country when Godzilla was not around or unable, this was the beginning of project Kiryu. In 2002 the countries leading scientists where said to begin work on a bio-mechanical fighting machine based on the Simeon Mechagodzilla but would be partially constructed from the bones of the original Godzilla that was felled by the Oxygen destroyer in 1954, this was a mistake. Nearly immediately through the early stages of testing, the Shobjin appeared and pleaded that Kiryu be dismantled or Mothra and Battra would come and destroy the machine themselves. The government refused to listen and the two insect kaiju appeared right on cue to fight kiryu, only to be interrupted by the appearance of Godzilla who's roars caused an onset of memories for Kiryu who went berserk and began to destroy the city, now it was up to Godzilla, Mothra, and Battra to stop this crazed creature. Armed with the latest technology, Kiryu was as feirce a fighter as the Mechagodzilla he was based on but against three of the worlds most powerful kaiju he was no match, and badly damaged, he sank beneath the waves to rest in peace once more, sadly it would not be forever.
