Crossover: Legacy of Kain-Tolkien: Silmarillion

Edit: Did major changes to the face, and worked out better the details on the whole figure.

So he's Gil-Galad (his name means 'Shining Star' ), the last great king of the noldorim in the Second Age of Middle-Earth.
He was the bearer of the ring Vilya. The elves used the rings of power to preserve their fading glory, but defeating Sauron and destroying the One Ring meant their rings will lose their power, and their kind have to leave Middle-Earth, or stay there to face their extinction.
Gil-Galad got killed in the first war of the rings in the end of the Second Age.

He has the appearance of Kain from the Legacy of Kain series, it was a fun work to make his character recognizable with changed hair and skin colour.

thanks for the to anyone who like it!

Kain rather reminds me to the elves from Silmarillion, they were dangerous and tough warriors, and their power-thirst caused them so many trouble. And Kain looks very similar to an elf in appearance and nature

The game character I painted has such a proud and elf-like features he was fitting to be painted as Gil-Galad, and I like the armour design from the movies too.

Hey great work, the detail and lighting is excellent. It looks like you replaced the earlier version.

Of course you must realize that it was only the high elves that were dependant upon the rings, the wood elves and Avari were completely unaffected by the fading of the rings.

Too bad Gil-Galad had only a second's role in the extended movie, and was completely cut out from the theatrical version.
I like Elrond, but he's hell far from the powerful high-elves of the First Age. He was the lord of Rivendell, but wasn't the king of the elves.
And I'm glad you like the painting

This work is fantastic!
Kain looks so majestic standing like that, and with the volcano as a background. The title fits him best, he really is the king and leader of all.
I loved it from the first time I saw it, but I couldn't add it to faves(pc problems). And now when I saw it again, I just had to do what I couldn't do a long time ago.

KainTheVampireLord In reply to BaPHeHkATa [2009-01-29 17:22:54 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!
He has such an attractive and elegant appearance in BO2 that he could be mistaken for an elf, and this crossover-project was a good opportunity to dress him up into the elf king armour. It fits his character, and his role as a leader too
And it was fun to paint him with black hair too.

I'm glad you like it!
(Stupid old pc-s are always making troubles )

BaPHeHkATa In reply to KainTheVampireLord [2009-01-30 16:52:45 +0000 UTC]

Welcome!
Yes he does, he truly is very attractive, but something always bothered me about him- in the game his lines are too sharp, and are more like angles, than a vampire's face.
Your Kain is the best version. And I think Edios should take a lesson from you, and make him like you do- more realistic, and with a spark of life in his eye(I'm not saying that he doesn't have it, but your paintings always have an emotion).
Yes, elven armour really suits him, but he looks good wearing..everything.
Ofcourse I like it!!!
You should concider having an art gallery, so more ppl can see your works, as they are truely amazing!

KainTheVampireLord In reply to BaPHeHkATa [2009-02-04 21:56:35 +0000 UTC]

I love him the most in BO2 (I like his character and nature in the SR-games, but not his appearance. He was quite distorted in Defiance, had too wide shoulders, too big chest while his waist was too short. And his face should be better too)
Agrees, his white-skinned version is the best, I love his athletic body, his face and his elegance...somehow he reminds me of the big wild cats. Even his moves like long jumps and bare-hand fights were cat-like too.
I love better his in-game version than the 3D cover pic (the opened and blody mouth didn't fits him, and too bad they rendered only this face to him, and used it on all pictures) even if his game character has less details, his face looks intelligent and that's what I want to give him with my pieces too.
I'm glad you noticed he has emotions
I'm quite afraid of showing my stuff in real-life galleries, but if I could make an own website, I'd surely have one

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

BaPHeHkATa In reply to KainTheVampireLord [2009-02-07 22:46:14 +0000 UTC]

Yes, his apperience in BO is the best. Something about his shoulders has always bothered me, now I see it wasn't only with me.
It's true, his jumps and fighting skills remind of a cat, because of their elegance and nimbleness. But his face reminds me more of a husky, especially his light blue eyes.
I hate his 3D cover pic. His eyes are yellow there, his eyebrows look like an owel's, his mouth looks like he's choking, not like he's angry, there's also no emotion in his eyes. Plus he looks better in the game.
Yes, I did . I'm all about emotions, I love it when I see something with live in it, and not liveless pics.
I'm glad to hear!

KainTheVampireLord In reply to BaPHeHkATa [2009-02-16 20:13:20 +0000 UTC]

Somehow his whole anatomy was distorted in his green version. His short and too thick waist was bothering too, and his muscles looked odd as if they were on the wrong place.
I like he had blue eyes in BO2...and loved their red light when he was angry.
That cover pic sucks, and the blood on his mouth rather looked like plastic. I think they rendered him with wide opened bloody mouth only for effect, but it was just stupid, and didn't fit his character (and I agree about his eyebrows. They were hell odd. And they were too low, nearly covered his eyes. No matter how hardly he frowns, he can't raise his eyebrows that down)
Too bad there's no way to rotate the camera around him in the game, but at least we can see the rest of his face when he's watching something. I like his intelligent look.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

BaPHeHkATa In reply to KainTheVampireLord [2009-03-01 12:16:02 +0000 UTC]

I liked the game's design better than in BO2, but they really ruined Kain's apperience. I think his head was a bit too big for his body, and it's true that his shoulders were to wide too.
I also loved his blue eyes, and I think he would look good too, if they had a silver reflection.
I also loved how they glowed in the end anter he kiked the Sarafan Lord's ass.

Yes,the cover pic sucks, and the blood really looked strange-like jelly. He really makes that expression, whyle sucking blood- but it looks different and better in the game.
Haha, when I read "...nearly covered his eyes.."I imagined him having hairs in his eyelids too. How stupidder can I get?
He really looks intelligent.Like he can read through ppl's thaugts. I wonder if they used someone as a model to create Kain's apperience. I would really like to see how he looks, if they did.

Agrees, the environment and buildings in Defiance looked better than BO2 (but it was playing in the city, and the deserted canyons) the architecture and decoration of the ancients and Vorry's mansion was hell beautiful, and I found the snowy Nosgoth so chilling too
But for movements and gameplay, BO2 was better: I liked how Kain can pick up different weapons, and fought in a different way with each of them (bare-handed fight is awesome too) As for Defiance, the fighting was a bit stupid as there's no blocking option, all you have to do is to press the same buttons (It's quite hard to get the characters to perform any movement combinations, and I found fighting in the air useless)
Hehhe Kain's appearance sucks too (in SR, his skin looked like rotting) and his body structure makes him look similar to an Uruk-hai orc, and his anatomy was distorted with that oversized upper body, no waist, and too long legs. His face was bizarre too with those horns or whats, and the too low hairline, plus that ugly skin. I loved him much better too with white skin, and he looked more powerful than his green version when he was dressed into that spiked armour, and had a calm face expression, but his glowing eyes said it's wiser to be out of his way

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

BaPHeHkATa In reply to KainTheVampireLord [2009-04-15 18:10:58 +0000 UTC]

Oh yes, the snowy Nosgoth was very beautiful and realistic. I like the snowy city in Max Payne better taugh- but the game is newer, so it doesn't count.
I liked the moves in Defiance, but the game was hell fast, and I wasn't aible to see all his moves good.
Oh, how I loved the different weapons, and ways to kill victims in mist. ^^ I especially loved the way he chops off ppl's heads with the baseball bat thing.
He looks exactly like a green lizard, or a spiked snake. They really made him ugly. I was very upset to see him like that, as my first game was BO2, and I was used to his white-skinned apperience.
Yes, his glowing eyes were the cherry on the ice cream. When I saw him from so close, and with the eyes, I was like"What the hell?!Why wasn't he like that from the start?!" I loved his face, and all the armours (the best one was the first one, for me).

I understand what you're pointing at, but I feel pride for different reasons about my works. It's much better feeling to make a painting coz there's much work in it than the linearts, or if I can express with my pics what I want to mean with them, so all of them contains a different challenge to me. (Except my few comic-style drawings. They didn't required any effort or skills).

very nice pic, it somehow makes me think of Turel instead (despide bearing Kain's symbol). Maybe it's because of the armor, it reminds me of human Turel's mural in SR2.
