Ok, das ist ziehmlich genial. Ich bin noch relativ frisch im digitalen zeichen/malen und das hier sieht einfach aus, wie ein traditionelles bild.

I'm very impressed! It's very realistic and mighty, and I love the black and white. What is your painting technique ?

This is a digital painting. I used only one brush, though - one with rough edges to keep a painterly style. I kept effects like blur (only on the owls wings) and glow at an absolute minimum. So this is basically a similar process like doing a traditional painting.
The only big difference is that I'm working on layers. I start with everything on one layer, but as things get more complex (and all the animals are rendered out, for example) I start separating them all on single layers. This helps me to change the composition later on (what I constantly do, by the way) and keeps things flexible.
I had a few photo references for the picture, especially for the animals. While the deer, the owl and the bison had no real 1on1 references, the bear and the wolf basically are closely referenced - with a few artistic changes, of course. Also, no 1on1 reference for the woman. The clothes were basically done straight from mind, while there were some anatomy references for the body. What I like to do is not using a single reference, though. So there was reference for the legs, the arms, the torso and so on, but not one single image.
I hope this explains a bit of how I do it . Thanks for the comment.

They are utterly fascinating, wonderful rendition of the classic totem pole, but just a side note, owls were not generally featured as such, because it almost all cultures they were viewed as evil spirits, the picture is very good though.

Yes, I know! In some cultures, owls are viewed as wise sages and messengers, though. So it's not all negative. But in this picture, I wanted to keep the mystery and darkness of this animal.
