first art forLatvia (me! me!) vs Hong Kong..
BATTLE THEME: CUISINE, COOKING, NATIONAL FOOD ETC.
I couldn't find any Latvia's national food (exept bread. srsly ). and HK have a lot of tasty dishes, so I thought about cooking lesson~!
but you can't be never sure WHEN Latvia will attack you with PANCAKE

I did research before an anime came out and based on first colour pallet Himaruya posted - Latvia had purple eyes.
It's possible that they changed it colours, so the better way to check this out would be screens from the anime

I'm from latvia and that what is flying in Hong Kong's face isnt Rupjmaize but a pancake I think but still it's awesome how you made my cotry's face look (priceless!)

I read that Rupjmaize has some spiritual meaning for Latvia's people so I didn't wont to offence anybody by making some joke with it. That's why I decided to choose some generic dish - pancake.

Balzams is an alcoholic drink that's special to Latvia!(Totally didn't just Google that.)
But really, it's not bread, it's piragi. Basically a small roll stuffed with various meats. It's quite good, I tend to make them during Christmas with the family.

I was referring to Rupjmaize and I'm pretty sure it's a dark bread.
I know there must be a lot of good Latvian's dishes but I had short time to make researches and finished artwork and in that time I couldn't find anything eyes catching. It's quite sad because when I'm checking google now there are few more possibilities I could use.. screw you optimization xD!

-_- Latvians have alot of good food. It's just hard to find on the internet. There are all pretty much european foods. There's alot of good stuff. Maybe you just didn't do as well at searching... .3.

I've never said that there is no good food in Latvia o.O
I just wrote I couldn't find it on internet back then or it was quite similar for Polish cousin and didn't want to use it since I personay didn't find them interesting nor exotic. There wasn't a lot of time till deadline (slightly more then a week if I remember correctly) so I chose more general theme.
I mentioned about bread because for some strange reason it was mentioned in every single article I read. Somebody in comments left some information about Latvian cuisine and mentioned few dishes that sounds nice.

Yeah, I know, but if you researched you could have found some very good dishes. And actaully, bread (not all and definetly not white bread)is a very sacred food to us since Latvains are primarily farmers. We have a bread called Rupja Maize which means coarse bread. It's really important to us. Anyway, I'm not that peeved, it's just that so many people don't care. (-_-)Our food is actually very good, at least in my oppinion, and it isn't too diverse that you get diariah or something.
