Description Design for the 2nd Project Designer 7 Challenge. see for all the entries!

The Challenge: Design an outfit using sheer fabrics or cut outs.

My Theme: Identity

Fabric: Ivory Silk Jersey knit, Off-white Silk Organza with Blue Ombre-effect dye, Aurora Borealis White and Magenta Rocaille beads (seed beads).

My inspiration for this project was actually a piece by a fellow deviant. This is the original art by kid-chan [link] . I wanted to show how a persons true identity and vision of themselves is often veiled. To capture this idea I utilized several layers of an ombre-dyed organza over lay. The over dress is loose, not form fitting because it represents the protective shell that one creates for themselves. The under dress is comfortable and flattering, like a second skin, and it is beaded in a stylized fingerprint design. The spiral design of fingerprints is also a very powerful and important design as it can represent the cycle of life, not a circle as often depicted, but a spiral because it has a beginning and an end. The beaded chain down the back was a detail I drew out of the art work to add some accent color to the back, echoing the pink beading on the front.
When I think of sheer fabrics in fashion I always think of Jil Sander, I looked to their designs when determining how to use my sheer and which fabrications would achieve the look I wanted. Their designs embody the beauty of simplicity through color and shape. I think that my design reflects this as well.
My model was Ashlie, she was a good choice for this look because of her light hair and skin, but dark, striking eyes, I thought reflected the character in the art work which inspired me.

In terms of the rendering I know it does have a few problems, blue is always a hard color to blend, I dont know what I was thinking! Besides that I like it!

I appreciate any advice or comments on my design and rendering!

its simple, pretty, and sensual. it reminds me of julia jentzsch.

that eroticky beading on the transparent floorsweeper is rather sublime.

i really love this concept

Wow! This is beautiful! I love the flowing effect of the sheer robe, although I think it should drag on the ground.
