KojiHaru is graduating soon (after her announcement in the 8th Senbatsu Sousenkyo) so it would be nice to do a digital painting as a tribute to one of the last first generation members.

Kojima Haruna is one of the two remaining first generation members of AKB48, having joined from the very beginning. She is currently the oldest member in all the 48 groups (at 28), has the most appearances in the A-sides of AKB48 singles (all except 2 Janken singles and a Sousenkyo single) and has one of the most followers on social media among all members. Having the desire to graduate from AKB48 with a bang, she participated in the 8th Senbatsu Sousenkyo as Nyan Nyan Kamen (which is what she wears in the picture), complete with 2 videos of backstory for the character and a short skit during the Sousenkyo itself (featuring ex-AKB48 member Oshima Yuko). Well the skit might not be as polished as the video itself (probably due to dismal vote count and ranking compared to the past few years) but well it is an interesting way to graduate from the group.

Took a different approach compared to the previous digital painting, almost entirely relying on one brush (oil brush in clip studio paint) except for a few areas (background shadow and hair highlights). Hair took up the bulk of the time because I tried to render the flow of the hair as naturally as possible, and it looks good now. Compared to the previous digital painting, I didn't end up blurring my strokes, which I think kinda makes it look better and more natural. Probably the best digital painting I have done to date, and I am really happy with how it turned out.
