drawing and sketching is kind of the same thing really, just sketching is more rough than refined drawings.
draw with multiple strokes for one line in the general direction you want it to be. You don't have to be precise on each line, just flick your wrist and draw. Later on define the lines more and make them look better. if you do it that way then you will have some random lines flying arround that makes it look sketchy XD
some people's sketches are cleaner or messier than others, it depends on the way you draw.

As for the shading, normally people don't shade on faces. and the way i shade is called cross-hatching (my friend told me that's what it is called, but i'm not sure.) and that way is when you just kind of draw shape defining your shading area and then do a kind of diagnol (oh man my spelling....) stroking system that each line has some kind of space between each other and they are all in the same direction.

yea i know what your talking about, im saying i never tried sketching =\ and i dont know what type of pencil use for shading

lol getting different pencils is good, but i don't really care about those kind of stuff, i just use normal mechanical pencil for drawing/sketching/shading/all those other junk
