Description CV: The Stigma of Merchants
AKA
CV: No One Likes A Greedy Priest

I noticed a rather strange trend that most (if not all) action or RPG games fall prey to. More often than not there is gonna be a merchant who will aid your character(s) by providing you with potions, weapons, and all that cool jazz to help you succeed.

But... if they really want to help you in saving the world or slaying (insert name of villain here) wouldn't it make more sense to just GIVE the stuff for FREE!? I mean, we're saving them and the rest of the world already... so why not cut us some slack and just give us some freebies.

Alas, it never happens... cuz the old habits of the merchants are drilled deep into their skulls.

Dialogue of the Comic is written below in case you can't see my writing:

Vincent: Greeting, vampire hunters. I, Vincet Dorin have been sent by the Church to help you, in your quest to slay Dracula.
*shows a bunch of potions and neat weapons* As you can see, I've brought potions and lots of helpful items and weapons.
...... However, there's only one problem. It's a matter of... economics.

Johnathan: So... you want us to pay you?

(FREEZE FRAME)

Vincent: Well, if you insist... then yes!
(Money makes the world go around, the world go around, the world go around! )

Johnathan: We're saving every human's butt here, and WE have to pay!? >_<

Charlotte: *Displays the face of disgust and frustration* Of all the people the Church had to send, it just had to be him!? This is going to hurt my savings account. -_-;

I always hated the merchant...

500 for a potion that heals 80
2000 for a potion that heals 200

I can carry 7 whips but only 9 of each potion?!

If I'll ever remember Vincent in the future... I can bet that I'll remember him cuz of his miser attitude.

No problem!

Indeed, Vincent is a greedy little priest.

I think I liked Portrait of Ruin out of all the Castlevania games I've played. Jonathan's cool (not because he has the same name as me... ), Charlotte's cute, and the game was overall awesome.

And the cream pie...

JonCausith In reply to Kajyu [2007-10-01 20:10:34 +0000 UTC]

I agree! I just laughed at how the "Whip's Memory" is easily defeated by the cream pies! I couldn't believe that a serious enemy is weak against a pie in the face...

Kajyu In reply to JonCausith [2007-10-05 03:34:36 +0000 UTC]

Whip's Memory must really hate pie... <.< Imagine what would happen if Dracula got his hands on that sub-weapon.

Maybe the Belmont family is lactose intolerant...

But if Dracula got his hands on the pies... The Belmonts would be doomed!! And no Belmonts mean no Jonathan Morris!!

Luckly that won't happen, would it?

gamingcow3 [2007-09-20 02:34:46 +0000 UTC]

Vincent's not really GREEDY. He is staunchly business-like, is all. And he might not be brave, but at least he helps and is genuinely concerned about the situation at hand.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kajyu In reply to gamingcow3 [2007-09-21 00:26:15 +0000 UTC]

It's true that I exagerated Vincent's personality a bit to suit the comic, which raises the question... "Why do they have to charge heroes/heroines when they are saving the world already". Pretty much happens in almost every video game.

It's just a parody... it may not be 100% accurate, but it has some truth in it.

gamingcow3 In reply to Kajyu [2007-09-22 02:19:39 +0000 UTC]

Oh, well, I wasn't criticizing you negatively, I'm just speaking [...posting?] on Vincent's behalf.

Good comic.

It's so true. Like you said, if they really wanted to help you they would give it to you for free. Well, I guess everyone needs a living. Then again, it would make the games too easy if they gave you everything for free. Great dialog by the way.
Although, it made scene in Symphony of the Night due to the fact Alucard is regarded as a trator (due to not following Dracula's will) and had to pay the librarian in order to receive his help.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kajyu In reply to EvilCatV7 [2007-04-05 07:07:19 +0000 UTC]

Well, at least in Symphony of the Night, they give the merchant a reason as to why he keeps emptying your pockets.

darkjester-reala [2007-03-23 11:17:45 +0000 UTC]

^ LOL! Throwing Holy Water or using Kaiser Knuckles at him is fun... and he runs off after abusing him for too long.

And he doesn't lower the prices!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

OblivionTheHedgehog In reply to Kajyu [2007-02-25 16:01:58 +0000 UTC]

XD You can hit him with any weapon, and he'll run off. I discovered that by accident.

Jhonothan: *stands there*
---
Me: *holds Up button, then accidentaly presses "X"(I changed the layout)* Oops...
---
Jhonothan & Charlotte: Grand CROSS(Or Cruz)!!! *hits Vincet*

Vincet: *wheezes, then runs off*
---
Me: ..... WTF? *exits the room, then does it again* ....

Yeah, that sucks. But, if you bbeat the game twice and complete all the quest, then you'll have TWO Chaos(Magus) Rings. Equip one for Jhonothan and one for Charlotte... Then you can do "Heal" as many times as you want.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kajyu In reply to OblivionTheHedgehog [2007-02-26 21:21:53 +0000 UTC]

LOL Having 2 Magus Rings definitely spells total ownage! You can do Dual Crushes as many times as you want. GRAND CRUZ SPAMMAGE!!!

I learned that you can actually beat up Vincent when I accidentally hit him with a Heaven's Sword. And I heard that you can actually cure him with the Undead Killer whip as an alternative to the Sanctuary spell. <.<

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

OblivionTheHedgehog In reply to Kajyu [2007-02-26 22:05:39 +0000 UTC]

That's why I need to beat Ritcher. So I can pwn Dracula later on and get the MAgus Rings faster. And Grand Cruz is awesome. Nice look and awesome effect.

Wow. You use Heaven's Sword? I luff swords like that. Hit a enemy, and there's that nice "ping" effect you get when people have shiney teeth and they smile, it looks so shiney and a ping is in the background. When you hit them, that is.
Really? I thought that could be done, as well... I wonder if you do the second playthough, and instead of using Sancuary, you use the Undead Killer on the Twins...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kajyu In reply to OblivionTheHedgehog [2007-02-27 00:20:56 +0000 UTC]

Heaven Sword, Alucard Spear, Vampire Killer (powered up), and Kaiser Knuckles are my personal favorites to use during co-op boss rush. They get the job done.

2 Sorceress Crest = fast acting spell casting!

Dude, total pwnage. Right there. I just wish you can add a third accessory... <3

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kajyu In reply to OblivionTheHedgehog [2007-02-27 00:48:51 +0000 UTC]

A third accessory slot would be an awesome boss rush mode prize... as the ability to quickly switch from equipment A to B (like the Doppelganger soul in Dawn of Sorrow).
