Got back in a TLK mood and decided to finish this one picture that I started...maybe a few month or weeks back. No idea, but it has been a while.

This is Sara, my version of Sarafina's mother and the grandmother of Nala. Now I did a picture of her back in March which can be seen here: Sara , but since then I have been drawing my lions differently and I really wanted to do this lady justice. I just love her so much!

So, here's what I did.

Sara is based on a lioness seen in the first movie, the one who is directly behind Sarabi on the left . She is quite unique and I know quite a few people have used her because of it. Prior to this scene, she is looking sideways which reveals that her head has a slightly different shape.

Now the thing about my TLK is that I came up with the idea that Simba and his pride and friends do not fight alone. There are a ton of hyenas, and they are dangerous creatures. Jaws capable of crushing bone and they use numbers which can even overwhelm a male lion if there are enough present. So the idea I had is that either Simba or Nala (maybe both), go to the kingdoms of their old friends (many of the semi-canon cubs; The Back Lands, Tree of Life, The Dusty Plain, etc) and recruit help for the battle. Some lions who are there for sure is Chumvi, Tojo, Ni, Miitu (Mheetu, also because Scar had taken his mate captive).

And she is (unfortunately) the wife of this jerk and mother of Simba's Uncle and Tanglemane.

Tweaked her eye color a bit, making them a chocolate cosmos color that is kind of like a deep reddish brown. I think her son Bembe would have a similar color for his eyes. But then how does Sarafina have green eyes? well she carries it via her family and Fuga's family too (his dad is Mohatu's brother and Uru has her deep green gems).

After being exiled from the Pride Lands for treason, Fuga wanders as a rogue for a bit. He eventually comes to a kingdom that is in need of a consort for their young queen.

When Sara first meets Fuga, she is a little unsure about him. But he works his charm and soon she is head over heels in love. And maybe, in his own way, Fuga returns the affection.
