Long ago there were a cult of feared experimental magic users who ushered the combined power of the void and life itself to create a potent and maliable form of magic, capable to shred through anything it touches while at the same time possesing the ability to heal, they called it... oblivion.

Mephiste is a special member born under circumstances to allow an impossible feat to exist, the first pure oblivion soul vessel.

to manipulate the power of oblivion is to allow a parasite to leech on your soul and grow while granting the host almost unparalel power in the right hands, every user of oblivion sacrificed themselfs to attain this feat but they were swallowed by the parasite. Mephiste is the first to have direct bonds to oblivion, his soul is capable to produce oblivion like no other, his pure bond allowed him to achive the most effective way to create oblivion from life essence of other beings while also being the only one able to passively create it aswell.

his mastery over this magic only grew with time but his mortal body was incapable to withstand the power his soul accumulated, singing his vessel in eternal pain till death separated him. an unforseen reaction suddenly appeared, causing a dissonance amongst the cult's bonds to their parasite souls, their souls imploded, they exploded, expanded and shrunk time and time again forcefully morphing the mortal body into monsters of flesh, insanity, pain and despair, just a mere second of this reaction was enough to break their minds, some began slaughtering others and others took their vessel out of commision for an escape.

Mephiste couldnt watch as him family and those closest to him fell to this eldrich horror so he sacrificed himself, he gathered as much oblivion power as he could and made a powerfull bomb out of his body, erradicating the abominations before they could leave to spread this horror in other parts of the world.

However, Mephiste was not dead yet, his unique soul allowed him to bypass the filter of singularity thus granting him the singularities attention, the pure oblivion held within his soul was capable of killing the immortal souls living within the singularity so it decided to let Mephiste walk amongst the living as a living soul.

he faced the trials of the singularity and passed like no other much to the singularities expectations, reaching the final as if he just took a 10 minute walk through a dense, silent forest, thus he climbed back to the relam of the living.

his new life was nothing special at first, but he began noticing a resurfacing resonance... one he knew all too well, the resonance of oblivion was like a distant song as the new generations of oblivon soul parasites were feeding off their hosts, Mephiste began to worry and make it his mission to stop those who seek the old powers of the oblivion, scouring the plains of Thailea to recover and seal away the old artifacts of his ancestors.
