Yeah, like I'd play Mother 3 and NOT post up some fanart.
!! SPOILERS UP TO THE END OF M3 !! PLEASE DO NOT RUIN IT FOR YOURSELF
For those who have not seen it: [link] (or in English w/o creepy music: [link] ) Apparently this is an unused boss battle, with unused music. Reminds you of Giygas, no? Anyways...
Claus just got operated on and had that creepy nightmare with GIYGAS -insert final Earthbound boss- and became a robot/cyborg??/inhuman. (justatheory) But Lucas has already gone through raep with Ionia, ohohoho~
I finished Mother 3 on the 25th (got it on the day the translation came out, 17th), that's about a week.
What I thought of it in a nutshell: loved the musical combo system, missed the elements from EB but it seems that Itoi focused more on the story, the ending was okay wished there was more, but who cares MOTHER 3 freaking rocks. Oh, and trippy mushrooms FTW.The end made me sad (although a bit typical) and I got a little tearyish. ;__;
On the [sucky] comic: Ionia is scary and MaskedMan's head is falling off. Think of those 2 old EB comics of mine, only insert red background to make it a M3 comic, with the same ugly art.
Forgot that Claus could've learned PSI the same way as Lucas did... whatever...

The nightmare boss battle is to symbolise how Lucas feels about the masked man or better yet Claus at first he sees him as a heartless or soulless Roid/robot then he thinks of him as a fallen angel and then through out the battle he finally realizes that it's his same older brother all along thanks to Hinawa and they're reunited after all those years

MOTHER 3 is my favorite among the series, but MOTHER 2 cuts it close..

Ahaha! My favorite is EarthBound. I just like the whole everyday kids running around to save the world. It has a nice charm.
Mother 3 was different from the other games, but that doesn't stop it from being good too~

I'm not a very emotional person so M3 didn't affect me so much. I also rushed through it, finishing it in 2 weeks during the school year...
I was actually a bit disapointed, because I was expecting it to be too much like EB. However, when I look back on the game and discuss it, I really get to appreciate the story and all its emotional aspects.
So yes, Mother 3 is very touching.

I know! I thought it was going to be a really long game. When I found out that there was going to be 8 chapters I was like "oh cool that's not too bad" but they were shorter than I expected >:
I'm that kind of person who likes long chapters.. but not too long, like how chapter 7 was.. that dragged a bit. >>;
THE STORY IS THE BEST PART OF IT~! it's so amazing. You could tell the creator had a lot of dedication to it just by how everything played out.
It made me lol at how Duster kept going missing and always having to be found.. and strangely, the thing with the doorknob made me feel sad. I haven't figured out exactly why..

They must have spent a LOT of time trying to change the storyline around until it suited their liking. o_o;
xD personally I don't really want a MOTHER 4- *ATTACKED BY HARDCORE FANS* I mean, it would be nice! but I just like these 3 games. I would hate to see such an amazing series spiral downhill, like what happened to Kingdom Hearts. (It's just all about the money, now..) >>;

Well yeah that too, and considering how they were first working on the failed N64 DD.
I don't think it would really go bad if another sequel came out, because they work so hard on the games and consider every single part of it. Itoi is a very deep man and wouldn't just put out some stupid shovelware. I think if you work on a game for at least five years (from M1 1989 to M2 1994, or like Team ICO) it'd be pretty hard to miss all the terrible mistakes you'd make.
And besides, it wouldn't be a direct sequel, which already gets rid of the whole 'oh it's gonna be bad for sure' thing. I think a Mother 4 would be really nice, but only if Itoi directed it, which has already established that he won't.
And dude, don't even tell me about KH. of course it was going downhill, it's Square Enix with a bunch of mindless fans going crazy over a JRPG.

I saw some screenshots of it on Starmen.net and it looks really freaky. The weirdest part for me was seeing the Claymen working at the factory. They looked SCARY.
Itoi does put a lot of dedication to each installment, so I don't think it'd be likely for him to just drop everything and disappoint all of his fans. I would cry inside if I ever saw a direct sequel to MOTHER 3. Which isn't going to happen, so I'm cool.
Since Itoi isn't going to be directing MOTHER 4 (if there ever comes a day when it's made), it makes me less interested to see another game. I sound picky, but I just can't see a MOTHER game without Itoi as the director for it.
Kingdom Hearts was fine the way it was with just 3 games. SE obviously can't leave things alone and had to screw around with it until it's become nothing but mindless trash.
I was never a big fan of Square Enix from the beginning. Final Fantasy is all right. But I'm not going to spread fangirl love all over it.

I think the N64 version is interesting, but the GBA of course looks better. I just only wonder what the differences in story could've been, and not only the whole 'much darker ending' thing.
Although I think I'd want to see a Mother with Another World graphics. ;D I think those graphics look EarthBound-y enough but have been upgraded in a way that it really compliments the style.
IMO this is what I thought of Kingdom Hearts: KH1=okay fun game worth playing. CoM=My gosh, what the heck were they thinking?? KHII = boring gameplay with interesting continued story.
I really miss SquareSoft.

I don't know if this is true or not, because there wasn't really a valid source (lol wikipedia) but I heard a theory somewhere that, after Claus died, Lucas's heart became filled with the darkness that his brother had. And when he pulled the needle, the world exploded like Porky wanted it to ):
it sounds like it makes sense for the N64 ending, because it was supposed to be darker.
The plot does make me wonder.. I think you might be able to see Flint a lot more during the game than before. Because in that version there wasn't any mention of Kumatora anywhere.
I don't know what those graphics look like.. I think wind waker might look nice as well. :'D

No, that's not true, it's wikipedia. I saw a thread on exactly what you're talking about @ starmen.net. (See here .) Although it IS plausible, no one knows for sure, so it's as canon as me saying Lucas and Claus are gay for each other (-insert puking sounds here-).
Actually Kumatora was present in the N64 one. (See this picture.)
Windwaker was cool, for sure. But I've tried to dismiss that style, because obviously they can't go and make a game with another game's graphics. (Unless you're Level 5 & Studio Ghibli! Oooh my heart broke at that one.) I'd like a 3d Mother for sure, if it was done right.

They'd get sued for it lol. It would look really good if it looked something similar to how the characters are displayed in Wind Waker though.
A MOTHER in 3d would be the best thing ever. Unless it came out looking how it did in the N64, then I'd definitely be against it. Since they're past those type of low-quality graphics, there's nothing to worry about.

The N64 graphics were a bit... gaudy. MOTHER is about being charming, and those just... weren't.
Windwaker is charming, so that's why it works so well for MOTHER. I can't really say anything on this, because I have no imagination. P:
It's like upgrading from 2d Pokemon to 3d Pokemon. The transition has to be smooth and be consistent to work for the series. But I've never played 4th gen, so meeehhh.

It's the game series Ness and Lucas are from. And seriously, it's not bad like this at all, it's actually really funny. 8D And also very heartwarming and touching.
