E X P O S I T I ON
Personality||
Prim, sassy, dramatic, self-oriented, and occasionally a bit of a jerk, there's not much about Beetlepetal's personality at first glance that redeems her as a good cat. In general, she is not the most social, but this is mostly because she just doesn't know how to interact with others. She finds it difficult to connect emotionally to others, and becomes awkward in one-on-one situations. Her desire for attention often leads to her doing one thing in one moment to gain approval, and then doing the opposite only a little while later. She's a strongly opinionated pacifist, and there are few things she believes so strongly in as not fighting. While this initially stemmed from a dislike of getting herself mussed up, it has developed into a true distaste as she's seen what it can do to cats and their relationships.

Deep down, Beetlepetal strives mostly for attention and affection, but once she recieves it, she's never quite sure what to do with it. She genuinely cares about the cats around her, but unfortunately finds it hard to figure out how to display her caring appropriately. 'Pep talks' have long been her fallback, but her version of them consists mainly of yelling at the other cat, which has, in the past, not worked out so well. Thanks to Pansypaw, she's begun trying to dial back on these, and has largely succeeded.

History||

From the time her eyes were open, Beetle was helping Adderkit cause trouble around the nursery. Most of the time she spent trying to get attention, or latching onto what he sister was doing in order to make more cats pay attention to her. As she grew though, she began to find other ways of getting attention, slowly mellowing out and making friends with her denmates. She still found herself picking on Crowkit with her sister, but never stooped as low as Adderkit with the mean things she said, prefering to keep out of fights. The first cat she ever truly made friends with was Thrushkit, when he declared himself that they were friends, and she was left bewildered but pleasantly surprised over this revelation. Finally, just before their apprenticeship ceremony, Adderkit and Crowpaw got into a nasty fight, leaving Adder in the medicine cat's den with a broken toe. After the punishments were handed out by Barkstar, Beetlekit tried to spend time with Adderkit to reassure her. But it was hard with the prospect of being an apprentice so close...

[Apprenticeship]
Fortunately, Adder was not held back from apprenticeship, and she was given her mentor and new name along with Antpaw and Beetlepaw, to the latter's relief. Beetle was given Rustfur as her mentor, Thrushpaw's mother, and during a swimming lesson with Redheart, the two apprentices made a bet on who could listen to their mentor better. The winner would receive the prize of a feather.

[ / ] Morelstripe is scary... I'm pretty sure they hate all kits, which is why I was kind of surprised they took on Yamkit- I mean, Yampaw as their apprentice. I guess maybe she's the exception? Who knows. Either way, I'm gonna try and stay as far away from the medicine cat's den as I can.

[ / / ] I love my moms!! I'm so happy I got two, I think it's really cool! Mama Redfoot taught me to swim, and Mama Mudfoot is just like me, and they both love us lots and I love them too! I wouldn't want any other moms in the world.

[ / / ] I hate that she has to fight all the time! I'm sick of it! Every time I'm sitting around having fun, she comes over and ruins it with all her talk about the enemy and how we have to fight them! She starts fights just because she can, and she acts like it's fun! And she always has to be right, but she's wrong, fighting is bad, I hate fighting! And I h-hate her.

[ / / ] Sometimes I wonder if Antpaw is actually really stupid, but it's mostly that he's just so nice. Who the heck is so nice all the time?? He gets really sad over silly things too, which really annoys me because there's no reason for him to be sad! He's just making himself sad, and it's frustrating and I don't like it. I wish he'd just focus on himself more, he'd be so much less upset all the time.*

[ ] I like her so far!! She's very pretty, and she's nice! I'm not sure how I feel about sharing my mentor with another apprentice, but I guess it means less work for me? And it's just Turnippaw.

[ / ] I'm not sure about Thrushpaw anymore. He's changing. I don't wanna say it's that he used to be nicer, it's just that he used to be... I don't know. But all this, this encouraging fighting with other Clans, and making fun of me, and yelling at me... I just feel like we're both ending up different from what we were, and it's making us grow apart.

[ ] I keep trying to make her feel better, but she doesn't seem to get it, and neither does Thrushpaw. I'm trying... to be the bigger cat... like Pansypaw said. I'm trying to be a little nicer too, whatever that means... I still don't know though. I still feel like she just needs a good talking to, and maybe she'll finally listen.

[ ] Yampaw is pretty cool. She likes flowers! I think she was the best choice to become medicine cat, really, she's good at what she does! She helped Adderpaw with her toe, and that healed really well, so I think she's gonna be a good medicine cat.

[ / ] We're not SUPER close, but I think he's okay! I mean, he's kind of ridiculous sometimes about pretending to be smart, and he's not very memorable, but he's pretty cool. I guess.

[ ] I like Turnippaw. She's nice and quiet, which is a huge difference from being around Adderpaw. I'm not sure how I feel about sharing a mentor, but I think out of everyone, I'm glad it was her. I mind sharing with her the least.

She'd just told me Redpaw was dead, and then she told me she was dating Turnippaw, and I just... I'm jealous. They got together so fast, one minute she was flirting with me, and the next... She's telling me they're already a 'thing'. It hurt.

[ / ] She's said some pretty horrible stuff, but I still can't hate her. She's sorry for ripping out Crowpaw's eye, and she feels bad about it. She didn't mean to. She's not perfect... but she's not the horrible cat others make her out to be either.

I never actually really thought about why Liontail was naked before, I always assumed he'd just gotten in a big battle that gave him so many scars his fur never grew back, or that he was in an accident, something like that. But Hollypaw says she was just born like that. And she's pretty, for a cat with no fur. She looks all soft and wrinkled. It's interesting.
