I actually quite like this shot and was going to accept it to the group - then I saw the item in the foreground. This is a huge, and unfortunate distraction. Could you not see this in your viewfinder? It looks like he posed for the shot, or was at least not moving, so I feel this could have been avoided.
The colours are rich and the focus and composition is good, save for the foreground item. Actually I supposed the composition is BAD because the knob really ruins the photo.
So overall, this could have been great but one small mistake spoiled everything :/

thanks... he was not posing. he was the man who runs a business on that huge "distraction". people were paying some money to watch ships passing by for this binocular thing. he was not a real captain. i put the thing intentionally...
