I don't think I've ever seen something so creative done with photography. I can hardly believe you actually created something so wild and magical. Oh, it's truly phenomenal. And my compliments to your sister as well for her mystical expression. BRILLIANT.

Very beautiful colours, You did very well in makin her to fade into the background, but still stand out so strongly, looking like a sculpture. The blue green highlights on your model are a very nice touch. Wonderful image.
She feels to me rather sad, as though she is mourning, but her face tells me she is preparing for something, lying in wait until the time for earth to strike comes. I'd like to see more of the series.

Almost looks like she's ready to giggle, but I am glad to see you are not restricting yourself to b&w and tones of one color all the time (yes, I know you've done color work, but usually the previews you keep of color work are replacd with a tint)

Ominous lead in with "the skull of Arther" . I was thinking about the Tick's lovable, pragmatic sidekick. It seems to be coming out from a hole in her.

Am I correct that your sister is missing some fingers?

The attention to detail is fantastic. The streaked hair coloring is a particular joy to me and how the skin color could be mistaken for rocks by the bed of a marsh or something.

What haunts me is that with the lighting you've chosen, her skull is just about the most visible part of this haunting and beautiful image.

I can't believe this series hasn't received more attention than it has. These are beautiful beyond words, and very, very well done. The contrast between the cool hues of the mud and paint and the vividness of the leaves suggests a halo of fire. The textures are rivetting. Overall, it's fantastic in the truest sense of the word. I'm intrigued about how you came about doing this.

I've been away from here for too long. I think you may have given me reason to come back and pay some attention.

You should really consider offering these as prints. I would snatch them up in a heartbeat.

They really speak to me... i won't try to verbalize how. It's too hard. After all, isn't that the point of art expressed through images, or say music? It gets at what can hardly begin to be expressed through the tripping of lips and tongue and vibration of vocal cords.

Wow thank you so much. I put a lot of myself into these

I'm not sure if you really are interested, but if you ever want a print, just let me know. I don't have a DA Prints acount. I haven't seen any prints from DA so I don't trust them. This month I'll be buying myself a printer that I think does just beautiful prints, better than I've ever ordered anywhere. So let me know if you want any photos. I'm going to try and sell them as cheap as I can because I just want people to have something I made.

Seeya!

I would be THRILLED to have a print of this, or any from this series. Once you get your printer and get everything set up, let me know what you'd be asking for prints. I am definitely interested.

Beautiful work, Kalen! It would appear as if you had the fortune of working with a fantastic model, but what I find a lot more attractive about this image is the effort, time, cooperation, and patience you and your sister clearly put into it and the magnificent result. Your use of natural and artificial mediums in painting your subject is sensational. You took natural and household ingredients and produced a body paint that looks entirely like real tree bark, host to a variety of lichen, moss, and fungi. If the body painting alone isn't outstanding, you pieced together a great concept and, in my opinion, set up a perfect shot. I'm fairly certain the only thing that could have enhanced this image any more is a little more mastering of the lighting, but I don't think there's anything wrong with the current lighting.
I'm completely in love with this, and despite everything you've said, you are a photographer. One with a lot of talent and potential.
I would love to see the images of her standing up you mentioned on part four.
As for this image, it's a favorite to heart.

Ah, I found my skull.

A different photo, both in mood and ofcourse color, but I like this one too..The eyes cast down in combination with the raised arms and skull..It all creates a very surreal yet appealing visual image.

The texture is still too good. Might be the brightly colored leaves, but this photo breathes more life, it's more dynamic(in a strange way..it's late, i'm ill, i'm babbling) than the other photo..I like the difference very much.

My god - it's profound! GORGEOUS . Everything else you have done pales in comparison to this piece. I think I'd have to add this to my prints wish list - still up for the other one?

This is the BEST example of creativity that I have seen since joining - nobody else has put this much effort into producing a final piece of artwork. So much time and patience went into creating this. I love the tones and textures - the soft lighting from above is striking and brings out only what is needed to be seen. The contrast with the pitch black background is perfect, as are the multi-coloured leaves. THIS is art - thank you so much for sharing!!
