Description Do u know this feeling when u get back to your beloved drawing tablet, take the pen, start new document...
and then sit there paralysed, staring at the empty canvas, afraid to make a stroke, because u're not sure if u still can draw?

Well, if u don't, pray each day and night, u'll never learn it. It's awful. Really.

Anyway, I managed to finish yet another dragon from the Temeraire series. And I'm pretty sure I'll never finish this series if I'll be changing the drawing style so often (in fact I feel like ALL the dragons I've done so far need another re-drawing...). This time strongly influenced by Laurelhach23 amazing dragons (I'm never near that level of skills, but tried to use some advice and I think it could have turned out worse).

As for the dragon - it's another of the Inca beasties, but I was thinking on the fact that when the breed is described in the book, it's got "short-cropped feathers". Why would anyone shave a dragon? Then it came to me that Tumi were using their deep green colour to camouflage in the jungle, especially at night, so perhaps the cropped feathers were somehow brighter, revealing their position unless the brighter parts were cut off.

Thanks
I think this kind of green would make them camouflage perfectly in Amazon jungles where they live.

Thanks
It's quite different from the previous ones from the series, but I think I'll be going this direction in the future ones.

Cool! It is nice to see another fan art from you. Inca dragons are Terra Incognita.

It's perhaps there's not much written about them (and even less about breeds names), so ppl don't find them interesting - in fact we only know some abilities of two breeds (Copacati and Tumi) and physical characteristics of two others (Uturuncu and Yupanqui). Other dragons are only known by their names or not even that (some small breed was reported to be able to fly backwards, but we don't know anything else about it - quite a shame). It's hard to draw something u have no clues how it looks like...
It's not as bad as with African dragons though - but as I was thinking about it recently: maybe in Africa there are no "breeds" as we see them, since the dragons are not bred in any way and are free to mate however they like.

Yes, there are less information about Tswana dragons and their hierarchy. Often bigger dragons have higher status but Tsawana believe they were humans and they get their status, property, relatives from the previous lives.

Yup, quite similar to the Inca dragons in fact - living with a family/tribe, taking care of it...
I really wish there was something more about them (Kefentse was described soooo nicely).

Also the Tswana dragons use bones they poke through their skin.

It's probably the smallest middle weight

One of the smaller ones in a scale I came up with too keep things in order, yes, and the smallest if u look at the withers height.
Considering weight/length though I put several others below it. The differences though are like 2-3 feet of body length/wingspan between each next dragon on the scale, so it all goes quite fluidly from smallest to biggest and unless I put them all together on one sheet, the difference is barely noticeable.

Yeah, I was thinking about putting more stars there (after all jungle nights are full of stars, unlike modern city ones), but I thought it may get to messy then.

Thanks
