Part 2 of 4: “The Antagonists”Something about this pic screams “Weekend!” Probably because of Azula and Ty Lee’s outfits. I tried to make them fit the characters, and I blanked on having them be appropriate for school.
Zuko comes from a family focused on success. He’s expected to get top grades and make it into the best collages. But he’s falling a little short. He tries very hard, but gets frustrated when others surpass him with little to no effort. His popularity has dropped in recent years due to his scar, and his increasingly bad attitude. (None of the hair styles he’s had on the show so far seem to fit this setting, so I gave him a new one. And yes, it is the return of the poet’s shirt.)
Azula is Zuko’s younger sister, however they are in the same grade. She and her friends take every opportunity to torment and tease Zuko. After all, Azula’s getting better grades and getting into better schools and is very popular.
Mai is pretty much how she is in the show. Bored with life in general and desires serious adventure and mayhem. She’s only appeared once, there’s not much for me to work with.
Same with Ty Lee. Gymnast/acrobat who dreams of joining the circus. Actually did last summer, but came back for school. She can think of lots of things she’d rather do than hang out with Azula, but under the conditions, will find happiness where she is.

Opinions are opinions. Since I was transporting them to our present, I made their fashions modern. Although Ty Lee could be a little more covered up, but she wears the least amount of clothing anyway.

Ehehe....what gets me....is when would a optomist-cheery type be friends with a goth or a sadist? That's something that makes me shake my head at Mike and Bryan.... Hehehehe....then again...we never know where the characters are really going until the last ep of every season.........

The bond between Azula, Ty Lee, and Mai was created early, they’ve been friends since they were little. A bond of true friendship will withstand any difference in lifestyle. My best friend and I are totally different people. She’s a horror movie freak, I’m a comedic fantasy geek. She’s bubbly, extroverted, and enjoys going out while I’m reserved, introverted, and hate going out. We have different backgrounds, and our current lives are very different, as are our plans for our futures. Just about the only thing we have in common is a twisted sense of humor, yet we’ve been friends for more than twelve years and still get together regularly.
Sometimes, that’s just how it is.

Two years later, "The Boiling Rock" airs. Mai betrays Azula and Ty Lee follows Mai. True friendship? I think not.

True. But to most of us, it doesn't quite make sense...I have a feeling if Azula wasn't such a bully, Mai and TyLee would form their OWN opinions and split.
It's not the *differences* I find odd, variety adds spice to life and all that jazz, but Mai and Tylee just don't seem to have her sadistic will to kill people for being non-Ozai so to speak. They seem to be "following orders" most of the time.
On the flip side, there's those of us that were great friends with people we idealized as children, but once we entered collage, we had NOTHING left to tie us together.
I just was sharing my viewpoint is all, it wasn't an attack in any way.

Oh, I didn’t take it as any kind of attack, I like sharing viewpoints. 
Mai seems to enjoy fighting very much, the only time she’s happy is when she’s attacking her enemies. Ty Lee doesn’t seem to object to fighting, in fact she’s usually smiling while she does it. That’s not to say they wouldn’t rather be elsewhere, and there is a good chance that if they got the opportunity to leave, they’d take it. Well, Ty Lee would, Mai would never go back to oh-so-boring New Ozai.

(But... I also think TyLee's acting to protect herself...she seems a bit tooooo good at being ditzy....dumb like a fox, I think) Anyway!

Yeah, Ty Lee a bit airheaded, but not stupid. She's smart enough to not go against Azula after all. But I do think Ty Lee and Mai's best moments were in Return to Omashu, personality-wise, more three-dimensional. That’s probably because of their limited screen time.
(I hope the Kyoshi Warriors are okay, I keep telling myself that Ty Lee just paralyzed them, and they're prisoners now, fully alive, in their underwear.)

Anywhozits, love Azula's look, it's like 'STFU'. Zuko, Mai, and Ty lee are cool too. But, please, do one for Toph?

...I don't see exactly WHY you can't do it now...but, whatever. I'd SERIOUSLY enjoy seeing it, though...ciould that be...a REQUEST? Ok, if it's ok with u, I'd like a modern Toph, please. ONLY if you can. But there u go.

I’m not doing it now because A) I’m in the middle of other projects and B) I want to do more than just Toph. I want to modernize Long Feng, Jin, Joo Dee, Guru Patik(sp?), and possibly others. I planned to do it during the lull between seasons, and that’s when I’ll do it.

I...love it! I love their trendy clothes (Mai's outfit in particular); just the way they are standing around, they still seem dignified. Zuko looks sexah too with the clothes and the hair and the book and the fireflakes. I think Mai would like to share those, Zuko!
So is Azula trying to showcase Mai or something?

LOL! It’s okay. I did use my own hand and book for a model. Though he’s probably only holding it that way so he can grab some Fire Flakes, then he’ll go back to holding it with both hands.
