It's one of those days where everything is just the fuckin' tits, you know? If Gamzee knew how to dance he'd be cuttin' a rug.

And while he doesn't dance, he does sort of go about his business with a spring in his step. He wishes there was a charity he could donate to today but he's in space. He does do his best to helpful though, at least today. Why he woke up in the best of fuckin moods is really kinda beyond him, but he's savoring it while it lasts and hoping everyone else can benefit from it. Hey, Eridan, need helping sortin' out the wands? Kittygirl, you hungry?

Kanaya is… she's really somethin'. He's never met a girl that can make a room so depressing in such little time. He's never known someone with sharper words, like knives digging into your skin – but she's the kinda girl that stabs you and kisses you, the very picture of a delicate rose with thorns to guard its pretty petals. And there's something a little incredible about that, too, Gamzee has to admit. The fact remains though, that she's hard to interact with. She's a special one, she is.

Gamzee isn't stupid. He doesn't judge {never something so negative} but he does have a habit to analyze the people around them. He doesn't look it but he could write books on every one of those fuckers, much as he loves 'em all. He's got this odd way of keeping tabs on everyone, haha, why do they think he's always around the corner, listening in? They're adorable as shit but damn are his friends stupid.

After he's gotten a sort-of thank you from Eridan, {well, you aren't completely useless after all, Gamzee. Thank goodness for that indigo, mm?} helped Nepeta find food {this is pawsitively delicious, gamzee! Thank you!}, and given Tavros a good pep-talk {y-you think I'm tits?} he goes back to the 'living room'. For the past, ah, hour he ganders, she has been sitting with her knees up to her chest, glaring at the wall. She looks like she's having difficult holding in a lot of pent-up emotion.

He sighs, quietly. Gamzee doesn't know if this makes him saint-like, stupid, insane, or what. "Chickie bird?"

Her head snaps around at the speed of light and she glares. He doesn't move a muscle. Once he's stayed under her murderous stare for a moment, she lets up the look, her head raising. "Gamzee," is all she says, like she's allowing him to come closer or some cryptic Kanaya shit. She's as still as stone and she sounds professional. He gives a lop-sided sort of smile and strides over, because he's always gotta be super casual and happy to melt Kanaya's frigid little force-field.

"Chickie bird," he purrs in response, sitting down on the opposite side of the sofa. Nonchalantly, he lets his arms relax on the back of the couch and he just smiles, not delving too deep into discussion until he's properly figured out what Kanaya's feeling. "You been sittin' over there for the better part of an hour. Everythin' all fine?

Kanaya's face softens considerably, but she is still guarded. She purses her lips together and leans back on the sofa in an attempt to appear less awkward and she quietly sighs. "Of course," She says, after a moment of consideration. "Nothing's the matter."

"Not bad," Gamzee echoes, thinking it through. "But it ain't good, neither."

She opens her mouth as if to disagree, but she stops herself, her eyes on the floor. She softly bites her green-painted lips and the expression that crosses her face implies that she'd like to bang her head against the nearest surface.

"I guess," she mumbles, collecting herself. "Yes. Gamzee, can I help—"

"Eh, don't do that." Gamzee shifts closer, his face as serious as he can be while still seeming friendly and gives her an almost stern look. "Don't be tryna' to pull that off. 'Part from your little moirail, I do care 'bout whether or not you're…" He pulls away again, looking to the side with what is almost uncertainty. "Happy, I guess."

The awkward atmosphere settles in. Kanaya's shoulders hunch up again and she frowns. "…I know, Gamzee. I appreciate the… sentiment, but… nothing's wrong. It's just that I'm not in the best of moods, in general."

"Oh?" He smiles again, standing up. "Why didn't you say so? C'mere."

For a long moment, Kanaya stares quizzically at Gamzee's hand. She eventually takes it, letting him pull her up and slowly steps the slightest bit closer to him. Before she says anything, he asks, "You dance?"

Kanaya goes a deep green, and she almost flinches away. "D-Dance? Ah, not professionally, I mean—"

"No, no," he interrupts, gently moving the both of them. "Just like, movin' ya feet around. Twirl a bit, look pretty, should be easy, right?"

She's caught between scowling and smiling to be completely honest, but she goes along with it anyway. To his soft incouragements of 'just like that' and 'alright!' and to his affectionate coos when she twirls around, she dances, and it's a little silly. She hopes no one sees her doing this because she's really not one to dance like this. They swing, and that is exactly what it is, it's not romantic sort of dance {not meaningful, she says} but it makes them smile and it makes her happy {she supposes}.

After a moment of this, Kanaya begins to smile, and that escalates to small giggles when he wants to twirl her around. Gamzee teaches how to move her hips the slightest bit to a beat that isn't there, and after she catches on, they try several styles of dancing. They go from this care-free twirling and swinging to something where they're closer, and eventually Gamzee says something along the lines of, "Fuck if I know how to, but wanna waltz?" so they waltz, too.

Kanaya smiles the whole way through. Gamzee pretty much marks that day off as success. "Better?" He says, and by this point, they are simply standing close and barely moving, and he doesn't really know if she's noticed the closeness, yet.

"Huh?" She asks, then ducks her head back down as if to hide her face from him {her arms are draped over his shoulders, she reminds herself; you can only hide so much from a person you are this close to}. "Y-Yes, much. Thank you, Gamzee."

Gamzee feels her tense up again, shyly and awkwardly. He pulls away slowly, but keeps his hold on her hand, which he eventually raises up to kiss, his still-slightly-goofy smile still on his face. "Try to lighten up, Chickie bird. Smile. An' if you can't, you know I'm always up an' around."

Her fingers twitch, but she doesn't pull away from him. Instead, she smiles in the most sincere fashion she can muster and lets her fingers curl around his and he gently holds her hand. "Y-Yes. I'll remember that, Gamzee."

A moment of awkward sweetness passes, and when Kanaya excuses herself, Gamzee strides off. There is a split second of serene stillness in the room until Eridan stomps into the room and angrily plops onto the sofa.

About fucking time, he thinks, flipping through TV channels. Fill a fucking pail, why don't you?
