I really like your style and this drawing is amazing, but there's something missing here about Jorah! I don't know what,maybe the posture... I can't quite get the impression of the bear of house Mormont! Don't think this is a criticism, I truly love how you draw. I just wanted to share my feeling about your piece ^_^

It's funny you should say fox, because someone mentioned this Jorah reminded them of Sir Didymus from Labyrinth XD Now I can't un see it!

Lighting (especially the whole "lit from behind" thing) is really hard for me, but it's one of the things I love playing around with in my art. Also I just noticed I had input the wrong "your", and I'm never going to live that down.

YES. Lighting from behind is the worst. I had started a piece like that and gave up. I need to practice it more.

What makes it worse is finding great 'lit from behind' paintings and in my mind I formulate a sort of technique which fools me into thinking "Hey, that's not that hard". When I finally try it out though, it's just like "What have I done.Nope nope, abort.".

Haha, same here. Guess you have to abort some missions before you finally can get beyond the hurtle. Don't worry, just keep practicing. I find copying master studies helps, and also life drawing. I stare at my trees a lot outside.
