Thanks bro - I took it with a fish-eye lens that I was borrowing from a friend, which is why its got that spherical look.

Thank you Breaking into burned down buildings can lead to amazing photo opportunities (as well as asbestos exposure, but whats a risk of mesothelioma when compared to a good photo )

Woo, You've got some fancy fisheye going on there. I actually like the composition. It's not the tradition 1/3rd positioning for the photo's focal point that is the recommended standard (recommended by who, huh?), but that actually works well with the rich textures of the ground, the imposing stretch up to the structure, and then the sky marbled with clouds above. Ees good.

Kamal-Q In reply to reddie [2011-07-14 11:21:47 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I was borrowing my friends lens. Looks like your last upload was in 2009 man, tsk tsk Horizontally I have it centered though vertically I was aiming for the third mark - its hard composing with a fish-eye

SchΓΆnen Dank for the and comment (what would I do without google)

Placing the little cabin just off centre really works for this one.

I'm not sure if I like the bright colours. I think I do though.
I do however like the distorted point of view.

Thanks - I try to use that rule of thirds when I compose Yeah, its HDR so the colors are a bit strange..

HDR does not ring a bell for me? High definition...something?

I want drawings too .

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kamal-Q In reply to brainwashedcornflake [2011-05-19 15:43:01 +0000 UTC]

High Dynamic Range - If your camera has a manual mode you can control the amount of light entering the camera (the exposure) - so you over expose one shot, under-expose one and then expose one properly. Using software you join the images together to get a wide range of light in the shot (in a way that you couldn't do with a single shot)...thats the gist of it at least

Where have all the drawings gone?

Did you use a fish eye lens on this or distort on your own? It is very nice, I love the texture of the cracks, and I really love the sky. It almost looks like a whirlpool.

But is genius ever pure?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Z-LanaPhotography In reply to Kamal-Q [2011-05-12 02:00:47 +0000 UTC]

Good question, because it is seeking something of higher knowledge. I don't know if I am seeking higher knowledge, but sometimes my ego does get the best of me.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kamal-Q In reply to Z-LanaPhotography [2011-05-14 11:13:58 +0000 UTC]

I think seeking is almost always good (God guides those who seek) - but the arrogant genius (or the ego we all have) tends to lack purity I think, right?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Z-LanaPhotography In reply to Kamal-Q [2011-05-15 00:00:41 +0000 UTC]

Your right. The egos intention aren't pure, but the mastering of the ego through spiritual reasoning is a way that god teaches us to overcome our physical selves. He doesn't expect us to not have an ego but rather to master it rather than it master us and get the best of us.

3wyl [2011-05-07 13:37:41 +0000 UTC]

This is interesting!

I can't say I'm fond of the adjustments you've made, as it feels a bit too harsh... and it feels overexposed in some areas, but I like how there's almost a curve-y feel... was this captured with the fisheye? O.o

Anyway, The point of view is great and I like the composition a swell. It's interesting how it feels as if the world revolves around this, almost.

You could have captured more sky, but the positioning isn't too bad here...

But yeah, interesting stuff.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kamal-Q In reply to 3wyl [2011-05-07 13:50:09 +0000 UTC]

Its HDR (and maybe that is an acquired taste?), its a return to my older more garish style - and yup fisheye Its hard to compose with that lens man...

You're right about the sky, I could have positioned the ground a bit lower (closer to the bottom third I guess) - but as it was, my face was pressed against the ground trying to compose a decent shot - and I'm trying to avoid cropping

On your poll I went with specialist - though I'm not sure you can divide "jack of all trades" and a "master" (the jack of all trades has to have mastered something to be good at so many things right?) - then there are people that have mastered many things...

Thanks

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

3wyl In reply to Kamal-Q [2011-05-08 14:55:58 +0000 UTC]

HDR is an acquired taste... yes, perhaps so. I'm not too fond of it myself, although I can appreciate it if it's done well, I guess.

Hmm.. I was enjoying your newer stuff, but eh.

Yes! Was that the only thing you found difficult?

Mm-hmm. I can relate to that.

Possibly... I don't think so, though, or rather, not as much a 'Master' as another, like.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kamal-Q In reply to 3wyl [2011-05-08 17:29:46 +0000 UTC]

This is newer stuff, just that it looks like my older stuff sort of. Composition is the main thing, you can frame things but they really turn out quite different...plus my friends lens is 10.5mm so I have to be right up on my subject but then everything ends up distorted. How are you finding your fish-eye?

Maybe...there are savants or geniuses at some given thing (lacking in severely in other aspects of life) and then there are people that seem to be pretty good at most of what they do. So in that sense would you prefer to be a savant or a person that functions "normally"?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

3wyl In reply to Kamal-Q [2011-05-09 15:27:36 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I guess that's the case.

True... =/

Isn't that meant to be the case?

I've got a zoom from 10-17.. so it's sort of versatile, but there isn't much fishiness at 17mm.

I was going to buy the 8mm peleng, but.. eh. I still may. >.>

Perhaps... They would be deemed as abnormal on the normality scale. >.>

I'd rather be a generalist, although I've dreamed of being a specialist.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kamal-Q In reply to 3wyl [2011-05-09 17:54:54 +0000 UTC]

I usually try and imagine what the shot I'm taking will look like when I run around with my DSLR - so even though the fisheye is meant to distort, it does so more than I usually imagine I'd probably get a nice wide angle rather than a fish-eye

What do you think you are - generalist or specialist? I'm not good enough at anything to be considered a "specialist" (I've embraced the mediocrity) so I guess I'm a generalist

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

3wyl In reply to Kamal-Q [2011-05-10 14:58:32 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, likewise... you do build that skill up, in a sense, when you practice enough.

Mm-hmm... I got wide-angle first, myself, but I thought fisheye would be fun.

Generalist. I'm pretty average to be a specialist.

Well, not unless you mean in organising stuff. Then I'm a specialist there.

Yeah, me too.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kamal-Q In reply to 3wyl [2011-05-10 15:08:19 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I have a wide-angle - but its for my Olympus

Would you rather be an average specialist or a proficient generalist?

Ah the beauty of mediocrity

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

3wyl In reply to Kamal-Q [2011-05-11 19:00:16 +0000 UTC]

Ah, that sucks. =/

Sell it!

Generalist. Always, I think. I'll dream of specialist... but.. yeah, generalist is where I'm at.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kamal-Q In reply to 3wyl [2011-05-11 21:31:54 +0000 UTC]

I've given that to my father and brother

Me and money don't get along - my dad offered me money for the DSLR set I gave him, but I didn't want it (I end up spending money I get "for free" on things I really don't want or need )

Why dream of specialist?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

3wyl In reply to Kamal-Q [2011-05-12 18:36:45 +0000 UTC]

Ah, I see... fun stuff. o.O

Aww..

Oh right.. is that a bad habit?

To be the best of the best? Who wouldn't dream of that?

Kamal-Q In reply to 3wyl [2011-05-13 14:08:13 +0000 UTC]
