Description
A chibi version of a Zapotec Princess. She is from the royal capital of Zaachila, a small island city (mostly a royal residence) in a lake located in the valley of Oaxaca. She carries a fan in one hand and the royal standard of the same city in the other. Her style of dress is based on a Zapotec queen depicted in the Mixtec codex Zouche-Nuttall.

Female rulers among the Mixtecs and Zapotecs generally wore the same clothing, except for the textile patterns and colors which designated their city of origin and their headdress. Mixtec queens and princesses wore twisted colorful turbans, while Zapotec Queens and Kings both wore the draped mantle over their crown. Mixtec and Zapotec women both wore the basic female outfit consistent throughout all of Mesoamerica and among all classes - the skirt. Women in Oaxaca were rarely topless, especially royal members, which wore a short cape that hung behind. Over the cape they wore the quechquemitl. For examples of quechquemitl's see [link]

They also rubbed their skin with a yellow ocher dye that changed their skin color. The red paint comes from cochineal. Finally the sandals, turquoise necklace, jade and gold ear pieces and quetzal plumes designate her as a noble or ruler. Hope you all like and learned something lol.
