now i can talk about the 100 eyecons. if we take these 71, add the 15 from the show, and then the 9 from the movie, we get 95.
the Ganma heroic eyecons have mostly been included in the 71, Da Vinci being the only one left out.
Santa, Ishinomori, and Special werent in the movie, so at most Santa could be included (as Ishinomori pretty much founded kamen rider, and Special is for the band who play the opening song for Ghost)
so thats 97. split Grimm into the brothers and its 98.
but thats who we have eyecons for. on the kamen rider wiki, we have Bach, Schubert, Chopin, and Mozart being played by the band who play the Ghost OP (the 5th playing Beethoven). keeping Grimm as 1 eyecon and removing santa makes a full 100.
reason im saying this is that im gonna try to make a 100 eyecon in the style of Grateful. i'll be going the second route, so expect 4 musicians and a Da Vinci eyecon that isnt ganma.
(note: 17/03/2017: update: added Otsu and the two twitter eyecons Asagi and Specter. the sub of the ghost movie came out and Otsu appeared! so i added her in. also added the two eyecons that were with the twitter post linking to the 71 eyecons)

the ganma eyecons were, as far as i can see from the wiki, sort of corrupted eyecons, which held the spirit of the artist, but were ganma shaped.

i am not the show creator, so i have no authority with what im saying, and i havent re-watched the show, but the eyecons we see the heroes make came from items related to the spririt, like mushashi's sword guard. the Gazai Ganma (painter ganma) is loosely based on Pablo Picasso, and Knife is Jack the Ripper.

Is it just me or is anyone else surprised that there are only 9 eyecons based on female historical figures while the other 62 eyecons are based on male historical figures?

yeah, it is odd. then again if before ghost you asked me to name 100 historical figures, i'd probably end up with a similar male/female ratio

That is true as well but even still in the last stage show some of the female characters became Kamen Riders of Edison, Billy the Kid and Himiko. Not only that people can be confused with the Matthew Perry eyecon for the Canadian tv actor instead of the 19th century admiral Matthew C. Perry.

no clue. they were off the twitter i got the other eyecons from. doing a quick google, asagi is hard to pin down. but Specter only has 5 amaricans with that last name, so it's probably one of them.

Yeah I was having trouble figuring out what the number was as well. You also have to keep in mind that Otsu has an Eyecon, her label was designed by Toei as an alternative example of what submissions could look like for the contest, and then in the movie she gets turned into an Eyecon in front of Musashi's eyes. yeah, the subbed movie came out recently so i watched it. the musicians and Otsu appear. if we count the 71 named in the article you linked, and Otsu, and the 15 heroic eyecons, and the 9 bonus eyecons (such as ikkyu, pythagorus, and kamehameha), and also the official da vinci, we get 97. the 4 musicians never got an eyecon, but if we added them we get 101.
but i dont think they originally had da vinci when they were doing the 100 eyecons, as the special where the eyecon forms aired after the movie was released. so removing da vinci makes it 100. as at the time i did not know if otsu would appear or not, i did not do it, as it shows a non-eyecon-iris style image.
there was also the Asagi eyecon and different Specter eyecon from the twitter post that links the images of the 71 contest eyecons. more examples but in the iris format.
so i'll probably add Otsu here, although it will not replace the da vinci in the 100 eyecon driver.

I really wish they had kept the Wright Brothers as one eyecon like the Brothers Grimm, though. I feel like that would've made more sense with the established way that Grimm works.
