I really love the way Kishimoto can make Kakashi express
so many different emotions just through his eyes or body language.
And in a recent interview he said, that he regrets drawing Kakashi with a mask,
because he seems emotionless all the time.
Kishi, STOP BEGGING FOR ATTENTION!!!
I don´t see Kakashi being emotionless, nowhere.
The way he shows his emotions is just very subtle.

And yeah, I guess knowing Kakashi's backstory helps but just as a character, even if you didn't know what happened to him, he is the kind of guy that has more than what meets the eye, and I love when people include such depth in a character Unfortunately that depth is not often harnessed

Haha I actually think the mask adds a lot to his personality, not only the quirky side, but also the mystery, it makes people curious about what is behind it in general but also whenever he feels something new; when he smiles you can only see the slight grin, and when he is sad you see nothing, it's all in the eyes and I think that is a very powerful effect he has going on there.
