Okay! Finally well...sort of? more photos of my Drocell Cainz cosplay, and most likely the last of them for a while! This is because I have yet to find a suitable wig for him, ONE because they are either too orange or not 'natural' enough for my tastes I'm so picky xD and TWO, if I constantly dye and re-dye my hair it's going to fall out. SO! Until then, Drocell is going to be out of commission NO pun intended there "OTL.
Now to explain this photo. Basically over the weekend MelCosPho9 was held in the city and I along with a friend attended...well...we tried to xD We ended up getting there unbelievably late, but there were still a few cosplayers hanging around and I got asked for photos!
This photo was taken by the lovely Li Li U She has a Facebook but I'm not sure whether she has a dA .__. who was so SO patient with me and my inability-to-pose-syndrome. Thank you so much for the absolutely AMAZING and lovely photos!
For this photo...I had to cram myself into a corner xD haha it was a somewhat fun (?) experience xD
About the makeup and costumeBase foundation for a smooth/ white complexion (Natural skin colour is tan...), Eyeliner, eyeshadow, mascara and FAKE EYELASHES to accent my eyes. I could actually see the eyelashes everytime I blinked...that's how LONG they were .______." Floral 'tattoo' was drawn with liquid eyeliner.
My hair was bleached by myself. It's naturally black/ brown/ red...yeah it's MULTICOLOURED and also cut and style by myself
See here for my speed-up video/ mini tutorialThe overall costume (tailcoat) was made by myself, including the tophat. For this event, I actually decided to make a switch in boots to a pair of flat heeled ones instead of my platforms seeing as I still have a bruised and purple toe from wearing them at Armageddon =_________= ALSO with MelCosPho, I ended up not bringing my music box because:
1. It's too heavy
2. I couldn't be bothered xD

Still some work to do to it. there has been a few changes to it since the last time I wore it.
Also to finally add the buttons on the sleeves that is missing.

Ahh. Well what I used was gold ribbon as a base and over that I had this other trim (?) to make it look more authentic.

I have Gold film as a replacement since it's shiny... I guess I could back it with ribbon to make it stand out.
Also do need gold string rope for some detail.

It just finding ribbon that will work underneath the gold film and won't fray badly when cut.

Here's my tip for when cutting any sort of ribbon. After you make the initial cut, sear the ends a bit (with a small flame/ match) so that the they will 'fuse' together. That will prevent any more fraying because the ends have been sealed. Just a little heads up though, it won't necessarily work will all ribbons but for most it will.

When you say sear, whats the difference between that and setting the thing alight?
I did hear clear nail polish works as well.

Well by searing it, you're only letting the tip of the flame skim the edge. Setting it alight...well...that's a different story altogether XD
Maybe try trialling both methods and choose the one you think works best?
