No, this is actually a completed version of a much earlier sketch that was completely random. In the original sketch however, Knuckles' and Robotnik's positions were reversed, and Tails was in it, dancing in a ballerina costume.

LOL. Tails was originally intended to be female, you know. I'm wondering why Sega didn't just keep him that way, because now he's like .. a super femboi. He'd have made an awesome girl though that's for sure.

LOL. Yeah, I knew about Tails' gender issues. From what I understand, the decision to make Tails a boy came from Sega of America, because he doesn't wear anything besides gloves and shoes, which they (for whatever reason) didn't consider appropriate for female characters. Although I prefer him as a boy, I have to admit, it would've been very interesting if they kept him as a girl.

Yeah, but, I'm still satisfied with how it turned out, so it's okay, and I guess from a marketing standpoint, it was probably for the best. They did, after all, give Sonic his edge, and define his world, so I have to give them some credit.
